Ayesha Curry was surprised when Drake mentioned her as a model wife in one of his songs. Ayesha, who is 34 years old, has been married to Golden State Warriors player Stephen Curry since 2011. They are now expecting their fourth child.
Ayesha, 37, just like Drake, also grew up in Toronto and is a huge fan of his music. She was surprised when she heard her name mentioned in his song "Race My Mind" from his popular album Certified Lover Boy.
The song talks about a woman who is not fully ready to commit to a relationship. In the lyrics, Drake mentions, "Posted that pic you sent me, it wasn’t recent enough/How I’m supposed to wife it? You not Ayesha enough."
Ayesha expressed her surprise when asked about the track on the Monday, March 11 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. She admitted, "I think I was dumbfounded."
She felt a strong connection with Drake, producers 40 and Monsune, due to their shared Canadian roots. Ayesha mentioned, "That’s like our family." She also appreciated their respect for her, saying, "I think I was appreciative that they, like, respect me so much that they feel that I’m a great wife."
A year ago, Ayesha and Stephen, who are both 35, went to see Drake's concert at Barclays Center in New York City. During the show, the five-time Grammy winner surprised them by leaving the stage to come to their seats and introduce them to the audience.
Drake mentioned how people often say he and Steph look alike. Steph smiled and playfully touched Drake's beard, as Drake introduced him as his brother.
Drake then gave a special mention to Steph's wife, the wonderful Ayesha Curry.
Ayesha, who has authored two cookbooks in the past, is now showcasing her acting talents in the upcoming film Irish Wish alongside Lindsay Lohan. She and her husband, Stephen, are parents to three children - Riley, 11, Ryan, 8, and Cannon, 5. In a recent cover story with Sweet July magazine released on Friday, March 1, Ayesha shared that they are expecting their fourth child.
The former Food Network star mentioned that although they initially thought they were done having kids, they ultimately decided to try for a fourth child.
Ayesha pointed out that this pregnancy differs from her previous ones. She mentioned, "I'm in my 30s, so there's a lot of paperwork calling it a 'geriatric pregnancy' and raising concerns." Ayesha expressed the need for a more thoughtful approach to discussions about women, their age, and starting a family. She emphasized that many women in their 30s and 40s are experiencing pregnancy for the first time, and being labeled as 'old' feels unsettling and inappropriate.

Ayesha Curry's reaction to Drake's mention of her in his song "Race My Mind" highlights the cultural significance of representation and respect. Drake's lyrics, while not intended as a direct compliment, acknowledged Ayesha's status as a role model for wives. Ayesha's humility and appreciation for the gesture showcases the power of positive representation, especially for women who may feel underappreciated or unrecognized.
Furthermore, Ayesha's comments on the term "geriatric pregnancy" underscore the need for a more nuanced approach to discussing women's reproductive health. By challenging the perception that women in their 30s and 40s are "old" mothers, Ayesha advocates for a more supportive and empowering environment for women who choose to start families later in life. This conversation encourages a re-evaluation of societal norms and prejudices surrounding age and motherhood. challenging ageism and promoting reproductive autonomy.
