Lindsay Hubbard suspected that something was amiss in her relationship with Carl Radke when she received a text from production after the completion of filming for season 8 of Summer House. During a recent episode of the "Viall Files" podcast on Wednesday, November 8, Lindsay, 37, shared her belief that someone had influenced Carl's perspective, though she remains uncertain about the identity of that individual.
Carl and Lindsay became engaged in August 2022, having reignited their romance less than a year earlier. However, their plans for a November wedding were disrupted when it was revealed in August that Carl had decided to cancel their engagement. Lindsay, speaking exclusively to us at BravoCon, stated that they had not been fighting throughout the summer and described the breakup as blindsiding, as they had only experienced a few arguments in the initial stages of their relationship, which she considered normal for any couple.
During the recent three-day convention, Carl expressed his feelings of gratitude and nervousness as he reunited with his fellow Summer House cast members for the show's panel. He described the experience as emotional and expressed his pride in being part of the show, Bravo, and his love for all the fans.
Lindsay has since offered more insight into her side of the split story. Keep scrolling for the biggest revelations from Lindsay’s “Viall Files” episode:
The Immediate Aftermath
Lindsay claimed that the breakup became public knowledge mere "30 minutes after" she became aware of it. She confessed to living her life on an "hour by hour" basis, attempting to come to terms with her altered reality. To cope, she curated a "war room" within her apartment, filled with her closest companions, and organized conference calls to disseminate the details of the split to her inner circle.

How Long They Did Couple’s Therapy
Lindsay clarified the duration of her and Carl's time in couple's therapy following Kyle Cooke's recent statement to E! News. Kyle had claimed that Lindsay and Carl had been in therapy constantly since the beginning of their relationship. However, Lindsay explained that they actually started therapy "one year" into their relationship when Carl was going through a difficult period.
Carl’s ‘Attitude Changed’ as Summer Ended
Lindsay said she’s convinced the split was an “impulsive emotional decision out of anger,” adding that Carl’s “attitude changed” during the last two weeks of summer.
She stated that she was required to make significant changes to herself in order to be with him. They were having discussions about their future as a couple when Carl insisted that she needed to be more gentle with him.
"I am not like a subservient wife from the 1950s, I am a highly independent woman," Lindsay asserted. "So now you're telling me that I can't express my thoughts and I just have to remain silent?... We are making plans for our future, and I have valid inquiries that need answers."
Carl Doesn’t Understand That ‘Relationships Take Work’
Lindsay argued that the “really hard conversations” in her relationship with Carl were always harder for him.
She added that there's a universal belief that relationships require effort, indicating that he may not fully comprehend this. Lindsay expressed that even marriage demands work. When Nick questioned Lindsay about Carl's perspective on why their relationship fell short, she speculated that perhaps he was unwilling to commit to long-term couples therapy. Interestingly, she noted that half of their therapy sessions were prompted by his actions.

Lindsay Was Added to a Group Chat With ‘Summer House’ Producers Before Split
Lindsay provided a condensed version of the sequence of events surrounding her breakup which she found to be quite embarrassing. According to her, on the day before their separation, coincidentally the final day of Summer House filming, Carl was behaving towards her in an uncomfortable manner. Despite this, they still accompanied the rest of the cast for an evening out.
During their discussion about their Labor Day plans, Lindsay mentioned that things quickly escalated, with Carl making hurtful comments. A couple of days after their argument, production sent Lindsay a text in a group chat with her and Carl, informing them about filming the following day.
Lindsay immediately sensed that there was something amiss. She remembered how Carl had rearranged their schedule for filming, but she still found it peculiar. The next morning, she questioned Carl about the reason for the filming.
Recalling the incident, she described how Carl erupted at her, warning, "If you don't change, I'm very close to cancelling our wedding." Soon after, Carl decided to call off their engagement when the production team arrived at their apartment.
Where She Stands Now
“I’m in a really good place right now,” telling Nick that she has a “full heart” two months after the split.
