Summary
Ivanna Sakhno experienced pure joy while filming the starfighter sequences in Ahsoka. The cutting-edge technology and captivating set design made her feel as though she were a skilled pilot navigating a magnificent spacecraft.
The Ahsoka production team made extensive efforts to elevate authenticity, utilizing the Volume to construct a captivating setting for Sakhno and the rest of the cast. Despite Shin Hati's remarkable piloting abilities, she ultimately falls short in demolishing Ahsoka's shuttle, but her intriguing background and connection to Baylan Skoll provide opportunities for enthralling narratives.
Ivanna Sakhno, the star of Ahsoka, has shared her experience of filming the starfighter sequences for Shin Hati. In episode 3 of Ahsoka, Shin and Marrok surprise the heroes as they arrive at Seatos, causing damage to the T-6 Jedi shuttle in space. While Shin nearly manages to defeat Ahsoka and Sabine, she ultimately loses them among a group of purrgil.
During an interview on the Dagobah Dispatch podcast, Sakhno shared her experience filming starfighter scenes, expressing how it brought her childhood aspirations to life.
"It was absolutely amazing! The set, which was also utilized for The Mandalorian, employed state-of-the-art technology. We had The Volume, a remarkable space brimming with screens and dazzling light. However, the actual starship and various elements of the physical environment were meticulously crafted exclusively for the show. I distinctly remember sitting in my cockpit, and being transported back to my younger self, a wide-eyed child eagerly exploring my surroundings. Every button worked, and it truly felt like my childhood dream was unfolding right before my eyes. The sensation of being a pilot aboard a spaceship whilst making a living from it was simply exhilarating. I felt an overwhelming sense of joy and gratitude for the incredible opportunity to experience it all."
The Ahsoka production team spared no effort in their quest to enhance realism for Sakhno and the rest of the actors. By incorporating Shin's starfighter into the Volume, they crafted an immersive environment where Sakhno could fully immerse herself and bring the ship's functions to life, making them appear more authentic.
Shin Hati's Piloting Skills Are Most Impressive
Although her origins are shrouded in mystery, there is no denying Shin Hati's exceptional piloting prowess. It is believed that she received her flight training from her mentor Baylan Skoll, showcasing a level of proficiency comparable to that of Jedi Padawans and Knights in previous eras. While Shin's attempt to destroy Ahsoka's T-6 shuttle was ultimately unsuccessful, the outcome could have been different if it weren't for Tano's resourcefulness and the timely intervention of the purrgil.
The origin of the unblinking dark apprentice gives rise to multiple intriguing narratives. Shin seems to be a bit younger than Sabine, ruling out the possibility of her being a youngling at the Jedi Temple before Order 66. The Force wielder likely carries a sorrowful past that links her emotionally to Baylan. Ahsoka might find an ally in Shin Hati, especially with the anticipated return of Grand Admiral Thrawn and the promise of epic fleet battles. Catch the new episodes of Ahsoka on Disney+, airing on Tuesdays at 6pm PT / 9pm ET.
