In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, fans of the Zelda series can explore a more immersive and vibrant version of Hyrule compared to Breath of the Wild. While progressing through the game's main story, players will come across intriguing characters, villages, and ancient artifacts that may captivate their interest more than uncovering the mystery behind Hyrule Castle's turmoil.
During the journey, some players may feel compelled to undertake all available side quests. However, not all quests prove equally fulfilling. Whether it's due to the minimal rewards or the challenging nature of these quests, fans are likely to find themselves the most frustrated by these particular side quests in Tears of the Kingdom.
6 Cold-Endurance Contest!
Many fans find completing the "Cold-Endurance Contest!" side quest in Tears of the Kingdom to be disappointing. This quest requires players to climb Mount Granajh in the Gerudo Highlands and speak to Rahdo, who lives in a tent there. When players talk to Rahdo, he challenges Link to endure the cold weather without dying. However, this challenge can easily be avoided by consuming a meal or elixir that provides cold endurance benefits. Nevertheless, players still end up spending the majority of their time standing on a pillar throughout the night, which can feel like a pointless waste of time.
5 Cash In on Ripened Flint
During a playthrough of TotK, players are likely to come across numerous Flint while exploring, by smashing mineral deposits. These Flint can be used for various purposes such as fusing them to weapons or starting fires. Additionally, to complete the side quest "Cash In on Ripened Flint" near Bedrock Bistro, players will need several Flint. In this quest, players are asked to donate Flint to the Goron Gomo, who offers 1,000 rupees in exchange for ripened Flint. The catch is that Gomo will only accept 20 or 50 pieces at a time, and players cannot determine if the batch contains ripened Flint or not. While some players may prefer to save and reload before trading, others may consider it a waste of perfectly good Flint.
4 A Picture For Closed Stable
The series of side quests commences at Gerudo Canyon Stable, where players will come across Piaffe, freed from a stack of boxes. Piaffe will then offer players the chance to assist the stable by capturing photos for the wall frames. However, Piaffe has specific preferences that players must meet.
The desired photos include Spectacle Rock displaying a smile and a colossal sword. These somewhat obscure hints may perplex many players, leading some to abandon the quest. Nevertheless, determined individuals persist through the confusion to complete the task. Despite their efforts, the quest offers meager rewards of just a few Pony Points and some meals, which can be considered a disappointing prize.
3 The Mayoral Election
Upon arriving at Hateno Village, players can activate a new set of side quests. These quests revolve around an upcoming mayoral election, stirring up the talk of the town. The candidates, fashion designer Cece and the current mayor Reede, hold hidden truths that Link must uncover. Additionally, Link must also assist in influencing the election's outcome.
In the end, however, Link's actions do not affect the election result, as Cece and Reede ultimately decide to join forces. As a reward for completing the entire Side Adventure, players receive a Cece Hat, which serves no purpose other than adding to one's fashion choices. While unlocking Cece's clothes shop is a pleasant bonus, it does require a considerable amount of busy work to reach that point.
2 A Monstrous Collection
This side adventure in the Akkala region of Hyrule becomes available only after players have completed the previous side quests, such as "Mattison's Independence" and "The Search for Koltin." Upon returning to Tarrey Town, Koltin will request players to capture photographs of various monsters in order to create replicated statues for decorating the town.
While these side quests only require players to photograph the monsters rather than defeat them, some creatures can prove challenging to capture in a good shot. Moreover, certain monsters can only be found in The Depths, adding to the hunt's complexity and resulting in moderately satisfying rewards.
1 Messages From An Ancient Era
In Tears of the Kingdom, there is a side quest that initially appears to be crucial to the game's main story. Upon stumbling upon a fallen stone tablet at Lookout Landing, players will encounter Wortsworth, a scholar studying ancient texts. Wortsworth then tasks players with locating more of these texts scattered throughout the newly emerged Sky Islands in Hyrule.
For certain players, this side quest offers an enjoyable adventure that promotes exploration of the Sky Islands. In return for their efforts, players can receive Wortsworth's decipherings in Kakariko Village, as well as 100 rupees for each text collected and a fabric item, which can be utilized to personalize Link's paraglider. However, some players may view these rewards as insignificant given the amount of effort invested in completing the quest.
