A player of Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom came across the Crystal Refinery outside Lookout Landing after playing for 105 hours. Fans of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have built some remarkable structures since the game's release, and Crystal Refineries are crucial for maximizing essential resources. However, some players may not have discovered the secondary location.
Due to the vastness of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's open world, players are spending countless hours exploring every corner to overcome challenges and uncover hidden treasures. Unlike its predecessor, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom includes floating islands and a network of caves known as the Depths, each with their own enigmas. This highlights the immense scale of the Hyrule landscape in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as one player revealed that they only found a significant area after more than 100 hours of gameplay.
Reddit user Young_Person_42 recently shared a screenshot showcasing their adventure in the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game. The screenshot focused on the Crystal Refinery located near Lookout Landing. Young_Person_42 revealed that they had solely been relying on the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Great Sky Island refinery, indicating that they had completely missed a crucial non-player character (NPC) after investing 105 hours of playtime. This extensive playtime could have been sufficient to complete the game's storyline. Furthermore, it is worth noting that if the player had been speedrunning, they might have entirely overlooked the NPC.
Upon hearing this, other players chimed in and admitted forgetting about the Great Sky Island Crystal Refinery once they had reached Hyrule. The Crystal Refinery encountered on the Great Sky Island is the first one most players come across, but the one at Lookout Landing on the main landmass is more easily accessible. Consequently, it is possible that some of the 105 hours were spent traveling back and forth between the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's Great Sky Island and the refinery, affecting the overall gameplay experience.
Despite initial speculation from Breath of the Wild fans that the reuse of Hyrule's map would result in a less captivating environment, this finding reveals the immense size of the open world in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Although it took Young_Person_42 over 100 hours to locate the Crystal Refinery, it remains uncertain at what point they are in the game's narrative.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is currently accessible for Nintendo Switch.
