Can You Pet Animals?

The world of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is full of charming creatures, from foxes to bears and of course, dogs. These furry companions not only add to the game's cuteness factor, but also have a special ability that players will surely love. But the burning question that every animal lover wants to know is whether they can pet these adorable creatures in Nintendo's latest hit game.

Zelda: The Joy of Animal Companionship

Link's ability to attract dogs in Tears of the Kingdom is unmatched. With just a few tears, he can win over any canine and convince them to follow him. As a player, this is a chance to earn some goodwill with the furry companions by offering them treats. The grateful pups will then lead players to hidden treasures and rewards, making it a worthwhile endeavor.

Unfortunately, despite the overwhelming desire of humans to pet a dog upon seeing one, Tears of the Kingdom falls short in this regard. Disappointingly, the game doesn't permit players to interact with any of the animals, except for when Link comforts a horse by petting it. This is particularly disheartening given the adorable and endearing nature of the dogs and other creatures in the game, especially since petting animals has become a popular trend in gaming, as demonstrated in titles such as Hogwarts Legacy. It's a shame that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom hasn't followed suit in this aspect.

Players have expressed disappointment that dogs in the game cannot be interacted with physically. Despite being able to have animals in the game, such as horses and dogs following players, there is no option to pet or play with them. Although players can take adorable pictures with their furry companions, it would be even better to have the ability to show them extra affection through physical interaction. However, players can still make their dogs happy by giving them treats. The game is now available on Nintendo Switch.
