Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Ultimate Guide to Cobble Crusher

Discover how to get your hands on the powerful Cobble Crusher in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Complete quests, use the Daruk Amiibo, search for specific chests, or defeat enemies to obtain this useful weapon Learn all the methods here

The Boulder Breaker may appear like a small sword in the hands of Goron, Yunobo, but it's actually a massive greatsword in the hands of Link. Despite being the weakest of the Legendary Armaments, it's still a valuable weapon for those who prefer two-handed weapons in Tears of the Kingdom. To craft the Boulder Breaker, players need to find the Cobble Crusher, which is essentially a slab of metal designed for mining Ores and Diamonds. Here are some ways for players to obtain one.

How Regional Weapons Work

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Ultimate Guide to Cobble Crusher

In Tears of the Kingdom, Hyrule is divided into different regions, each predominantly occupied by a specific race. The Hebra Region is home to the Rito, the Lanayru Mountain range to the Zora, the Gerudo Desert to the Gerudo, and the Eldin Mountains to the Goron. Link can find weapons and shields associated with each race in their respective regions, along with standard material and weapon drops. The Rito use Swallow Bows, the Zora have Zora Spears/Swords/Shields, and the Gerudo wield Shields and Scimitars. The Goron, however, are known for their exclusive use of the Cobble Crusher two-handed sword, which unfortunately looks comical when paired with any other weapon.

Cobble Crusher Methods & Where To Find It

Now there are three methods for finding Regional weapons in Tears of the Kingdom:

Given as Quest Rewards. Found in Chests. Looted from enemies in the Region or from Chests dropped by Like Likes.

Each of these methods has its own pros and cons, so let's go over each one in-depth

Rewarded From Quests Or From Using The Daruk Amiibo

Interestingly, while players can easily obtain the Zora Spear by simply removing some debris from a Zora near the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower, the Cobble Crushers, on the other hand, cannot be acquired as a Quest Reward and are only available through other means.

Instead, the only real 'unique' option for getting a Cobble Crusher is getting one by using the Breath of the Wild Champion Daruk Amiibo.

Players can obtain the Cobble Crusher in Tears of the Kingdom through a specific method in each region. While farming enemies may be effective for finding Zora Spears and Gerudo Scimitars/Shields, hunting for Treasure Chests is the recommended approach for obtaining Cobble Crushers and Swallow Bows. The image provided displays the location of most of the known Cobble Crusher Chests, but for clarity, they are listed below.

Map Level

Location

1

Surface

In between Pico Pond and the Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower. The Chest is in an Enemy Camp full of Bokoblins.

2

Surface

Just south of Goron City (grab a bit of Goron Spice on the way) and a bit west of the Goron Hot Springs in an Enemy Camp of Bokoblins.

3

Look for a Chest containing the Cobble Crusher near the Mine Cart Track that circles Death Mountain. Follow the track from where it starts above Gorko Lake and keep going eastward until Link comes across a Rock Octorok. The Chest should be nearby, guarded by enemies.

4

Surface

Death Mountain West Tunnel in a Chest buried a bit under the dirt in the second 'room'.

5

Surface

Down the cliffside a bit to the north of the lake shaped like a lizard (AKA the Lizards Burrow) near Death Caldera underneath some breakable rocks.

6

Surface

Southern Mine Cave behind a breakable rock near two random minecarts (also right near the Bubbulfrog).

7

Depths

In the Depths of the Death Mountain Chasm just north of where Chest 3 would be on the surface.

8

Depths

In an Enemy Camp on the northeast side of the underside of Death Mountain in the Depths of Death Mountain Chasm.

In the Eldin Mountains area, players have the opportunity to obtain Cobble Crushers from enemies. While it may not be common to come across Moblins wielding Cobble Crushers in random camps, areas with Fire Likes or standard Like Likes are ideal spots to search for Chests that may randomly hold a Cobble Crusher.

For those seeking to obtain Cobble Crushers by farming Like Likes, the Death Mountain Foothill Cave and Southern Mine Cave are recommended as the two best locations. In case luck is not on Link's side when opening the Chests, it is worth noting that re-rolling the contents can be achieved by saving before opening them and then reloading the save.

Another option for a dependable Cobble Crusher farm is to defeat the Boss Bokoblin located just south of the Missis Lightroot in the Depths under Death Mountain. This Bokoblin respawns with the Cobble Crusher every Blood Moon, making it a reliable spot to acquire the weapon.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
