Exploring Gisa Crater in Tears of the Kingdom: The Ultimate Guide to Completing the Crystal Shrine QuestsIn The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there are a total of 152 shrines, each presenting a unique puzzle that our hero, Link, must solve. While some shrines can be accessed with ease, there are a select few that require Link to complete separate tasks before he can enter. These missions are collectively referred to as Shrine Quests.
One such quest is the Gisa Crater Crystal Shrine Quest. In this guide, we will take you through how to start the quest, the steps to complete it, and how to finish the Ikatak Shrine.
How to Reach Gisa Crater in Tears of the Kingdom
The Ikatak Shrine is a popular Shrine Quest in Tears of the Kingdom that requires Link to transport a small crystal from one location to another, resulting in the crystal transforming into the shrine itself. Located in the remote Gisa Crater of the western Tabantha Frontier, the Gisa Crater Crystal Shrine quest presents a unique challenge for Link to retrieve the crystal from a cave. Follow this guide to complete the task and receive Rauru's Blessing.
Located on the western edge of Hyrule and south of Rito Village, the remote Gisa Crater (-3932, 1100, 0094) can be easily accessed by most players through Lindor's Brow Skyview Tower (-1901, 1243, 0297) or Rospro Pass Skyview Tower (-3686, 2342, 0233).

Lindor's Brow Skyview Tower is an essential stop during the main story progression in Breath of the Wild. The tower enables Link to glide into the crater region from the east, but be prepared as the journey requires significant stamina. It is recommended to bring stamina-replenishing meals. Additionally, if Link has acquired the Vow of Tulin, it is advisable to summon it before making the jump.
How to Begin the Gisa Crater Crystal Shrine Quest
At the base of every shrine in the crater lies the stone snake, which Link will also encounter when he reaches it. In the crystal shrine quests, the large stone that Link enters will be the missing crystal. Keep an eye out for it at the northern edge of the crater.
Approach the vacant base and activate the green hand symbol to initiate the mission, similar to how Link interacts with shrines. This action not only starts the quest but also generates a beam of green light that links with the crystal.
How to Complete Gisa Crater Crystal Shrine Quest
Follow Green Light into Cave:
Descending along the green light path will take Link to the depths of the crater where he will encounter a gaping hole leading to an expansive cave system. Beware of lurking monsters that can ambush him upon landing.
When venturing down during the day, Link will only be met with two Ice Likes awaiting him. For an easier time fighting these foes, Link can wear armor that possesses the "Unfreezable" perk, such as Zant's Helmet. However, if Link decides to jump in at night, he must also take into account the presence of three Stalkoblins. To tackle these enemies efficiently, Link must first destroy their heads before dealing with the Ice Likes.
Link can defeat the Ice Likes by using fire to reveal the weak spot in their "mouth." Once exposed, strike the bulb again to keep them in a state of vulnerability for an extended period. Repeat this tactic until they are defeated.
How to Get the Crystal Out of the Cave:
After successfully clearing the chamber, Link's attention will be drawn towards a green light guiding him towards the crystal. He should pick it up and carry it to the elevated platform at the center of the chamber. Upon looking up, he'll realize that the raised section corresponds with the opening above, forming a perfect alignment.

Link has only two Zonai rockets at his disposal in the chamber. While Tears of the Kingdom allows for player freedom in finding alternative solutions, rockets are the only devices left behind by the developer. However, there are various options available to Link, especially if he has an ample supply of Zonai Capsules, to extract the crystal from the cave. This guide will focus on the use of rockets as the intended method, without limiting other possibilities.
Link can use the central mound as a reference point to carefully place the crystal at the center of the uneven ground. The unevenness of the terrain can actually work in his favor if he utilizes it correctly. By attaching a skyward-facing rocket to the side of the crystal and allowing it to settle, Link can ensure that the crystal doesn't shoot straight up and come back down. It's important to avoid tilting the rocket towards the west, as this could cause the crystal to shoot off the edge of Hyrule and require it to respawn.
Launch the crystal out of the cave by hitting the rocket and ensure that it doesn't fall back in before using Ascend to reach the surface. Transport the crystal to the base of the shrine and witness its transformation. In case the crystal is not visible upon returning to the surface, follow the green light emanating from the shrine to locate it.
How to Complete Ikatak Shrine
Upon entering the Ikatak Shrine, Link will be pleased to find that there are no obstacles to overcome or puzzles to solve, as it is considered one of Rauru's Blessings. After retrieving the Big Battery Zonai Capsule from the treasure chest, Link can easily obtain the Light of Blessing, thus completing the shrine. Don't miss out on the opportunity to play The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, now available on Nintendo Switch.
