According to a new interview with Men’s Health, Justice League director Zack Snyder thought the joke about his movie included in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie was “pretty good.”
Writer Barbie (played by Alexandra Shipp) expresses, "It feels as though I've been living in a fantasy world where I was deeply engrossed in the Zack Snyder Cut of Justice League."
"I thought [Barbie] was amazing and the joke is really clever," Snyder expressed. "I told Debbie that she needs to take a moment to really think about how her name is intertwined with such a huge pop culture phenomenon that it can be casually mentioned in a movie about Barbie. It's pretty mind-blowing. We just need to pause and reflect on how this even came to be."
The Justice League reference in Barbie alludes to the film's inception prior to Joss Whedon's involvement, with the "Snyder Cut" of the superhero movie becoming a sought-after gem for DC fans. In response to fan demand, Zack Snyder's Justice League was ultimately released on Max in 2021.
