Unlike many superhero-centric games, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League proudly displays its main antagonists. The anticipation of facing off against iconic villains is what makes these games so intriguing. In this case, it's fitting to have the Justice League and Brainiac front and center. However, Task Force X may seem less interesting in comparison. Fortunately, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has found a way to make the team more exciting.
While it hasn't been heavily promoted, each playable protagonist from Task Force X will have a unique piece of technology from the DC universe. Captain Boomerang's Speed Force gauntlet and Harley Quinn's bat drone are just a few examples. The game's latest trailer also offers a glimpse of villain memorabilia in its evidence lockup, which may serve as new abilities for the villain set. If this is the case, Mr. Freeze's iconic Freeze Gun would make an excellent addition to the player's arsenal. Therefore, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League should include Mr. Freeze's main weapon.
Mr. Freeze is a beloved character in the Arkhamverse, created by Rocksteady and WB Games Montreal. He holds a significant role in the universe and was introduced in Batman: Arkham City. Initially, Batman treated him with disrespect, portraying him as a weak and pathetic man.
However, this all leads up to an unforgettable boss fight, which fans consider to be one of the most well-crafted and thoughtful boss fights in any superhero game to date. Through this fight, Freeze's character is developed and his tragic backstory is revealed, showing how Batman and Freeze initially met. This is particularly important because it highlights Bruce Wayne's empathy towards Freeze and the tragedy he has suffered. In the prequel backstory presented in Batman: Arkham Origins' DLC campaign, Freeze's character is further developed, making him an essential part of the Arkhamverse.
Freeze's departure from the Arkhamverse was an emotional one as he was finally reunited with his beloved wife, Nora. It would be disappointing if he were to return in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League as a villain once again. However, it would be a fitting tribute to his legacy to have his Freeze Gun available as a villain set ability.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League already teased villain set abilities with a Bane power buff, so it's only natural for Freeze to have his own ability. This would allow players to temporarily wield the Freeze Gun and freeze Brainiac minions in their tracks. This support ability would prevent incoming swarms while other players take down the frozen enemies.
Deadshot players would benefit greatly from this ability as they can fly above the area and cover the most ground with ice. This would be the perfect way for Rocksteady to honor Freeze and grant his weapon's functionality to Task Force X in gameplay. As for future DLC plans, there are endless possibilities in the DC universe that could spice up the game even further.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League releases on February 2, 2024, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
