Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League may not be exactly what fans were expecting from Rocksteady, but it does have the advantage of being set in the Arkhamverse universe, ensuring continuity. Although Rocksteady may not be creating games with Batman as the playable protagonist anymore, the villains are still in play for future games. In Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the villains are integral to the gameplay, with villain set abilities being discussed as special attacks players can use in combat. While Task Force X may not be world-jeopardizing supervillains, they have all caused their fair share of mayhem and have been locked up as a result. Harley Quinn has the most history in the Arkhamverse, but the other villains posed much greater threats to Batman. Despite this, the game's focus on villain abilities connects it to its predecessors.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s Evidence Lockup Includes Scarecrow’s Fear Toxin Gauntlet
It is highly likely that Scarecrow's Fear Toxin Gauntlet will appear in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, similar to Mr. Freeze's Freeze Gun. In fact, the game has already revealed the gauntlet in brief shots from its trailers, which show an evidence lockup where Task Force X chooses their equipment. This theory is further supported by the fact that characters such as Captain Boomerang and Harley select specific gadgets that align with their rivalries and preferences. Additionally, the inclusion of specific villain set abilities in the game opens up a vast array of possibilities for unique and powerful moves.
Players would have the opportunity to wield Scarecrow's iconic gauntlet with syringes attached to each finger, as it is prominently displayed for fans to see. It would be fascinating if players could inject Scarecrow's fear toxin into enemies, causing Metropolis to temporarily transform into a nightmarish hue, and enhance their combat abilities with panicked and frenzied animations. However, utilizing fear toxin against Brainiac's minions would likely have little to no effect, given that they are the primary enemy type in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. While it is possible that the fear toxin could make Brainiac's aliens frantic, it may not be as gratifying as unleashing a plume of gas on a group of human goons and watching them attack each other.
Instead, inducing fear in the player character or their enemies could result in Brainiac minions turning on each other, adding a unique and captivating element to the gameplay that deviates from just standard gunfights. Additionally, this mechanic serves as a clear connection to Rocksteady's previous game before Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, making it even more intriguing for fans. The highly anticipated game is set to release on February 2, 2024, and will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
