While players have been able to pledge their allegiance to either Wrathion or Sabellian each week, a new black dragon has emerged in the story. Ebyssian, also known as Ebonhorn, was first introduced in World of Warcraft: Legion. He hatched ten millennia ago and was purified from corruption by the Highmountain Tauren. He has since served as their seer but has now taken an interest in the future of Azeroth, which has led him to the Dragon Isles.

Ebyssian sets himself apart from his siblings with his exceptional qualities of wisdom, patience, and kindness. He tempers their impulsive behavior with caution and calms their fiery tempers with his soothing words. It came as no surprise to everyone except for Ebyssian himself that, following the Aberrus raid, all the dragons involved unanimously elected him to lead their fractured family as the next Black Aspect and usher them into a brighter future.

Both Wrathion and Sabellian came to the realization that being an Aspect was not necessary to achieve their dreams. They understood that the best thing for the Black Dragonflight was to have a leader who was the complete opposite of Deathwing, who left deep scars on Azeroth and dragonkind. Deathwing's path was one of suffering and madness, and the surviving black dragons vowed never to repeat his mistakes. Ebyssian is the future they deserve, and he has humbly accepted this responsibility.

The future events following the revelation of the new Black Aspect are yet to be known. The latest raid in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, Aberrus the Shadowed Crucible, ended with all dragonflights united in defense of their world.
