The latest questline in World of Warcraft centered around the Blue Dragonflight is a touching tribute to some of the game's most cherished characters. Despite being a side quest, many players are hailing this new storyline as one of the best in the game's history.

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Dragonflight: Embers of Neltharion.

World of Warcraft has expanded its story with a new addition to Patch 10.1. The Embers of Neltharion campaign concluded with the introduction of a new Aspect to the Black Dragonflight. Additionally, players were treated to an incredible story involving the Blue Dragonflight in the same week. The story revolves around Kalecgos, the Aspect of the Blues, and his efforts to rebuild the future of his flight. Players team up with notable characters such as Senegos, Stellagosa, and the simulacrum of Sindragosa to locate missing Blue Dragons like Kirygosa, Azuregos, and Haleh. Their journey takes them to different parts of Azeroth before returning to the Dragon Isles to help lay the tormented spirits of Malygos and Sindragosa to rest in a heartwarming cutscene.

After bidding farewell to their artifact weapon, players are faced with yet another emotional goodbye in World of Warcraft. Senegos, the ancient Blue Dragon who players first encountered in Legion, realizes that his time has come to an end. In a heart-wrenching moment, he says goodbye to his granddaughter Stellagosa, entrusting her with the future of their family before peacefully passing away.

As a token of gratitude, players receive a letter from Stellagosa thanking them for their help and gifting them with a new toy in the form of a miniature version of Senegos himself. If players return to the Azure Span zone in Dragonflight, they may come across Emmigosa--another young descendant of Senegos--disguised as a Troll, paying homage to her ancestor.

The World of Warcraft sidequest left an indelible mark on players, captivating them with its poignant exploration of trauma, loss, and loneliness. Despite the heavy themes, it managed to convey a hopeful message about the power of family and love. For many, it was a joy to see Malygos and the real Sindragosa again, if only briefly, since their appearance in Wrath of the Lich King. The questline’s emotional highs and lows, coupled with the painstaking attention to detail in incorporating both well-known and lesser-known characters, speaks to the incredible care and dedication that went into crafting it. Some even argue that it might be the finest story ever told in the history of World of Warcraft. It is hoped that Dragonflight will continue to deliver such quality storytelling in the future. PC gamers can get their hands on World of Warcraft now.
