The Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse screenwriters have revealed why there is no post-credits scene in the latest installment. Miles Morales' journey continues as he delves deeper into the multiverse, facing off against the Marvel foe The Spot, who holds a grudge against him since the events of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. While The Spot plays a significant role in the sequel, the supervillain was almost given his own post-credits scene. In an interview with Indiewire, Phil Lord and Chris Miller explained that the scene would have been comedic, featuring The Spot trying to order a drink at a Spider-Man villain bar, but it was never completed.

Chris came up with a great line to describe him, "Trying to fill a hole in his heart with more holes," but it's clear that his method was not a great one.
Despite the initial excitement surrounding the idea, it ultimately would have disrupted the climactic ending of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. As the film draws to a close, Miles finds himself stranded on Earth-42, where he encounters malevolent versions of both his uncle and himself, who operates as the Prowler in this reality. Meanwhile, across on Earth-1610, The Spot is preparing to attack Miles' father, Jefferson, while Gwen Stacy and her team embark on a mission to locate the young hero.
The decision to exclude The Spot's post-credits scene was likely a wise one, as it may have clashed with the tone of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's suspenseful conclusion. While The Spot has the potential to be a compelling antagonist, the scene may not have been the right fit for the film's overall narrative. As the movie sets up numerous plot threads in its final moments, it will be intriguing to witness how Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse resolves them all in 2024.
