With the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, fans are excited to see Miles Morales return to the big screen after a three-year hiatus. The movie delves into the stories of multiple Spider-heroes from different universes, including Peter Parker from Gwen Stacey's world, whose tragic backstory and limited dialogue were touched upon in the previous installment. Actor Jack Quaid has now revealed his involvement in the film on Twitter, adding to the excitement surrounding the highly anticipated sequel. However, be warned that this article contains major spoilers for the movie.
How A Spider-Gwen Spinoff Could Feature More Of Quaid's Peter Parker
In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Gwen's return is marked by a tragic revelation that she inadvertently caused Peter's death. This occurred when Peter had taken on the form of the Lizard in their world, and Gwen discovered this too late to save him.
Although Peter's role in Gwen's world may have been brief, there are numerous possibilities for exploring his story further beyond Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Sony is currently developing an animated female spinoff project featuring Gwen as one of the primary characters. The spinoff film is also expected to feature Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman, and Cindy Moon, aka Silk. This presents an exciting opportunity for fans of the Spider-Verse to see more of Peter and his fellow web-slingers in action.
The female-led Spider-Verse spinoff has the potential to delve deeper into the history of Gwen and Peter prior to his transformation into The Lizard and eventual death. Given that flashbacks have been utilized in the franchise previously, it would be a natural progression for the upcoming team-up film to explore the backgrounds of the trio in greater detail. This could provide Quaid with additional screen time and allow for a more comprehensive portrayal of Peter's relationship with Gwen.
It is not unlikely that Quaid has already filmed additional scenes as Peter for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse but has chosen to keep it a secret for the time being. Hopefully, fans will have the opportunity to witness more of Quaid's Peter in the next film or spinoff, potentially even as a variant from the Spider-Verse. For now, it remains to be seen whether Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse marked Quaid's sole appearance as the beloved Marvel character.
