Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to hit theaters in just a few short weeks, and Sony Pictures is pulling out all the stops to promote the highly anticipated film. Recently, the studio released a thrilling new 50-second clip that brings a beloved Spider-Man meme to life in a way that's sure to delight fans.

This latest installment of the Spider-Verse franchise serves as the long-awaited follow-up to 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which introduced audiences to Miles Morales--a young hero who becomes a version of Spider-Man and saves his own universe from the villainous Kingpin. This time, Miles finds himself journeying through the Multiverse to meet the other members of the Spider-Society at their headquarters. Together, they must band together to take on an evil threat. And of course, when you have so many Spider-People in one room, you just have to recreate the iconic Spider-Man meme!

In the latest clip of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Miles finds himself being pursued by a group of Spider-People. The chaos ensues as Miguel O'Hara, also known as Spider-Man 2099, orders the group to detain "Spider-Man." However, with all the Spider-People being variants of the hero, they end up pointing fingers at each other, confused as to who needs to be apprehended. O'Hara clarifies that he is after Miles, and the action-packed chase begins.

The clip promises an exciting experience for viewers, showcasing various intriguing Spider-Man variants. Miles encounters a Spider-Cat that shoots webs and a Spider-Rex that swings around catwalks, both trying to capture him. The clip concludes with a Spider-Man narrating the story of his Uncle Ben's demise to a therapist, interrupted rudely as Miles and a group of Spider-People burst through the wall.

The recreation of the iconic Spider-Man meme in the clip is a standout moment. The meme first appeared in the 1967 Spider-Man animated series titled "Double Identity," where a villain impersonates the web-slinging hero. In one scene, both the villain and Spider-Man stand in the frame and point at each other. Fans later added a third version of Spider-Man to the meme, which was used to speculate whether three variants of the hero would appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. After the film's release, Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire recreated the Spider-Man meme. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to premiere in theaters on June 2, 2023.
