A new report has revealed that the upcoming Star Wars movie focusing on Rey will not be titled Episode X: A New Beginning. Rumors had been circulating about the possibility of this title being used for the film, but it has now been confirmed that this is not the case.
According to Cinelinx editor Jordan Maison, who shared the information on X (formerly known as Twitter), he has verified with his sources at Lucasfilm that the film will not be called A New Beginning. Instead, the movie, which will feature the return of actress Daisy Ridley, is currently in development under the working title New Jedi Order.
Earlier this year, Ridley discussed the upcoming Rey film set in the Star Wars universe. Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, known for her work on Ms. Marvel and Saving Face, the movie is positioned after The Rise of Skywalker, following Rey as she establishes a new Jedi Order. Despite initial assumptions that this film would be released first, it has been revealed that The Mandalorian & Grogu will be the next Star Wars installment in 2026.
Ridley hinted at the unique direction of the Star Wars project, expressing her enthusiasm for the narrative without divulging specific details. She described the upcoming film as a captivating exploration of the beloved Star Wars galaxy.
A new Star Wars movie may not be coming for a couple of years, but fans can look forward to a few Disney+ series arriving much sooner. The Acolyte is rumored to potentially debut in June, while Andor Season 2 is expected to arrive by the end of the year.
Editor's P/S:
The revelation that the upcoming Star Wars film focusing on Rey will not be titled "Episode X: A New Beginning" is intriguing. While rumors of this title had sparked anticipation, their dismissal suggests a potentially different direction for the franchise. The working title "New Jedi Order" hints at a focus on Rey's efforts to establish a new generation of Jedi, expanding the lore and deepening the connection to the original trilogy.
The absence of "Episode X" in the title may indicate that this film is not a direct continuation of the Skywalker saga but rather a standalone story that explores the aftermath of their legacy. This approach could provide fresh perspectives and allow the franchise to evolve beyond its familiar narrative structure. Fans will eagerly await further details on the film's plot and characters to unravel the mysteries surrounding this exciting new chapter in the Star Wars universe.
