Summary
The Inquisitors were even darker villains than Darth Vader, as they reveled in causing death and misery while hunting Force sensitives.
As the Emperor's trusted right hand, Vader effectively eradicated his enemies, although the Inquisitors frequently outdid him in terms of cruelty, making his actions seem insignificant.
In contrast to the Inquisitors, Vader remained focused solely on his mission and never found satisfaction in eliminating his targets, highlighting his self-control in comparison to their malicious inclinations.
The Imperial Inquisitors, former Jedi who succumbed to the dark side of the Force, surpassed Darth Vader in terms of darkness and cruelty. Handpicked by Palpatine himself, their main objective was to hunt down and eradicate any survivors of Order 66. While Vader, serving as Palpatine's Sith apprentice, was in command of the Inquisitors, they were fearful of his immense power. However, the Inquisitors' sadistic nature, exemplified by their brutal hunting techniques and treatment of captured Jedi, exceeded even Vader's own atrocities. This unexpected contrast between Vader and his subordinates adds depth to their villainous roles and emphasizes Vader's position as the Emperor's trusted enforcer, entrusted with swiftly eliminating threats that lower-ranking Imperials fail to conquer. Vader's commitment to his mission sets him apart as a formidable antagonist, but the Inquisitors' relentless cruelty reveals the vast array of terrifying villains within the Empire's ranks.
The Inquisitors' Jedi Tomb Was Ultimate Cruelty
Inquisitors Reveled In The Death & Misery They Caused
In comparison to Vader, the Inquisitors' mercilessness reached its zenith with the existence of their Jedi Tomb at Fortress Inquisitorius. Eliminating the Jedi was not sufficient for these individuals; they also chose to perpetually subject their bodies to excruciating torment and publicly exhibit them. This heinous act is particularly disturbing because the majority of the Inquisitors were once Jedi themselves, who ultimately betrayed and hunted down their own kind, callously placing their former comrades, mentors, and even innocent younglings on a display akin to trophies. While Vader harbored deep animosity towards various Jedi and executed them in the company of the Inquisitors, he never ventured so far within the confines of his own castle on Mustafar.
The Inquisitors derived pleasure from more than just killing, relishing in the suffering they inflicted upon their prey while searching for Force-sensitive individuals on behalf of the Empire. Iskat Akaris played a cruel game with a mother's emotions, allowing her to believe she had escaped with her child, only to cruelly snatch the youngster away using the Force. This was done solely to subject the mother to the anguish of loss, shattering her ability to trust. The Grand Inquisitor took great delight in tormenting Kanan Jarrus during their intense lightsaber duels, wearing a twisted smile as Kanan mourned the supposed demise of Ezra Bridger. Regardless of their target, the Inquisitors savored every opportunity to prove themselves, particularly if it involved causing distress and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
Darth Vader Was All Business, No Trophies
Vader, on the other hand, approached his tasks with utmost professionalism, revealing no enjoyment in the act of killing unlike the Inquisitors. He leveraged the fear he evoked to amplify his connection to the dark side, yet he always had a purpose behind each execution. Once a mission was accomplished, Vader swiftly moved forward, never indulging in the display of trophies exhibiting the corpses of his victims. Anakin, consumed by the darkness, became fixated on acquiring power; however, his self-restraint distinguished him from the other Inquisitors, hinting at his eventual redemption. Future Star Wars narratives can explore this dynamic further by introducing more Inquisitors and delving into their greater malevolence when compared to Darth Vader.
