Capcom continues to impress despite a lackluster presentation during the Summer Game Fest season. The Resident Evil franchise is thriving with exceptional sequels and remakes, while Monster Hunter Rise is still receiving support more than two years after its release. Street Fighter 6 has injected new life into the franchise, and Capcom's upcoming release, Exoprimal, is generating excitement. This 5-player co-op dinosaur horde game boasts over six game modes, a story campaign, and numerous co-op and competitive multiplayer options. Players can choose from 10 unique exosuits, each with their own set of abilities and weapons that significantly alter the gameplay. To top it off, Capcom has already announced new exosuit variants to be added post-launch.
What Are Exoprimal's Exosuit Variants?
Exoprimal's launch will showcase a diverse selection of 10 exosuits that cater to various playstyles, categorized into three primary roles: Assault, Tank, and Support. Assault category boasts four exosuits, namely Barrage, Deadeye, Vigilant, and Zephyr. Barrage is an expert in close-combat, utilizing a crossbow grenade launcher to eliminate enemies efficiently. Deadeye is a versatile exosuit, proficient in all aspects of combat and equipped with an assault rifle. Vigilant is the group's sniper, while Zephyr is the agile swordsman who can swiftly move between enemies and deliver fatal strikes.
The Tank category comprises three exosuits - Murasame, Roadblock, and Krieger. Murasame is a slower version of Zephyr but can endure more damage and parry larger blows with its katana. Roadblock is a formidable exosuit, wielding a massive shield that can deflect incoming attacks and push back enemies. Krieger possesses the most firepower of all Exoprimal's exosuits, equipped with a colossal minigun.
The Support class boasts three distinct exosuits, each with their own unique abilities. Skywave takes to the skies, slowing down enemies from above. Witchdoctor proves to be the most advantageous of the three, as it can heal and buff allies while simultaneously paralyzing foes. Meanwhile, Nimbus is a swift exosuit that comes equipped with a weapon capable of switching between healing and damage. However, these exosuits only scratch the surface of what Exoprimal has in store. Along with the 10 exosuits available and the range of customization modules and upgrades that players can invest in, Exoprimal is also introducing Alpha Variants to the game. These variants will be available for all 10 exosuits in a post-launch update. During the Xbox Showcase Extended, Capcom offered a more detailed look at these variant suits, which put a unique twist on each exosuit's primary weapon. For instance, Deadeye's Alpha Variant is known as Burst Fire and replaces the typical assault rifle with a weapon that can fire both shotgun rounds and bursts of bullets.
Zephyr's Alpha Variant comes equipped with a throwable chakram, while Barrage gains the ability to rocket hop. Vigilant now boasts a marksman ability, Roadblock's fortress shield is even stronger, and Murasame wields a frost glaive. Krieger trades his minigun for a powerful charge shotgun, while Witchdoctor's duality beam is inspired by Overwatch 2. Skywave adds a thunderclap ability to their arsenal, and Nimbus wields dual double-barreled shotguns. Exoprimal is set to launch on July 14, 2023, and will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
