In July, fans of Left 4 Dead's PvE chaos and the Exosuit-powered PvP action of Titanfall can look forward to the release of Capcom's Exoprimal. This PvPvE game pits two teams of five against each other in defending against hordes of dinosaurs. Although it may seem similar to other survival and team-based shooter games, Exoprimal has unique features that set it apart from the competition. The game was first revealed in March 2022 through a trailer that showcased a dystopian future where crazed dinosaurs wreak havoc on Earth. Each Exosuit has its own class, similar to the archetypes found in other team-based shooter games, such as damage, support, and tank. The teaser and open beta, held from March 16-19, 2023, provided players with a sneak peek at the game's core mechanics.
Exoprimal is All About Dino Survival
Exoprimal's flagship game mode, "Dino Survival," was available for players to experience early on in the open beta. This mode features two teams of five players competing against each other to clear identical courses and defeat hordes of enemies. With 11 missions available, players will face different challenges and environments each time they play. Some missions require players to protect objectives from both dinosaurs and their rivals, while others focus on hunting specific species or completing classic payload missions.
Players who are fans of PvP action will find themselves right at home with the thrilling gameplay of Energy Taker and Omega Charge. The standout mission, however, has to be the Neo T. Rex - an incredibly powerful mutated dinosaur that requires both teams to band together and take it down. As they embark on these missions, players will come across regular Dinosaurs that have somehow managed to travel through space-time and have become even more fearsome in the process. Meanwhile, players will also have to face off against Exoprimal's Neosaurs, which have been infused with unstable energy during their journey through time and space, resulting in unique appearances and abilities.
Exoprimal’s Classes and Loadouts
In Exoprimal, players must equip high-powered Exosuits to stand a chance against their massive adversaries. These suits are categorized into three main roles: Assault, Support, and Tank. Assault suits are designed for long to mid-range combat and come equipped with loadouts and skills tailored towards obliterating foes. Tanks, on the other hand, specialize in shielding their team from heavy damage and some even have abilities that draw enemy fire away from their teammates. Meanwhile, Support suits focus on healing and buffing allies, as well as weakening enemies.
In addition to customizable Exosuits, Exoprimal also offers players the ability to craft objects on the battlefield such as walls, platforms, and turrets to gain an advantage in combat. Rigs can augment Exosuits with various weapons and abilities like throwing weapons, lasers, repair fields, and charge attacks. However, players can only equip one rig at a time. The game also allows for cosmetic customization of both the pilot and Exosuit, including facial features, skin tone, hairstyles, face paint, decals, weapon skins, and gun buddies. With a range of gameplay options and cosmetic choices, Exoprimal's day-one Xbox Game Pass launch is sure to attract a diverse group of fans.
Exoprimal will be released on July 14, 2023, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
