Shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom offer a unique set of challenges that test players' abilities. One such shrine, the Mayak Shrine, presents players with two puzzlers that require precise timing and quick reflexes. For those who lack confidence in these skills, the Mayak Shrine can prove to be one of the most challenging shrines in the game.
Mayak Shrine Location in TotK
Located on the northern edge of Hyrule in the East Deplian Badlands, players can discover the Mayak Shrine. For those seeking a quicker route, the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower, situated nearby, provides a convenient launch pad to the northeast via gliding in the sky.
Nestled in the northwest region of Death Mountain, at the precise coordinates of 1270, 3733, 0106, lies a hidden gem that players can access without fireproof armor. This location is situated outside the intense volcanic heat zone, providing a comfortable and safe haven for players to explore and discover its secrets.
Mayak Shrine Walkthrough
How to Solve the First Puzzle in the Mayak Shrine
Upon entering the Mayak Shrine, players will be greeted with a set of ramps and a pressure target that can be activated by a switch. To proceed, players should take a left turn and make use of the launcher to reach the elevated platform.
Using Ultrahand to place a large stone ball at the top of the ramp, the challenge of this room is to time hitting the switch so that the ball will land on the target.

Timing is crucial in this game, as it relies heavily on the player's reflexes and ability to react quickly to the ball's movements. To hit the switch at the optimal moment, it is recommended to do so when the ball is on the brink of rolling off the ramp, as demonstrated in the second picture above.
To achieve success in the game, players can opt for an alternate method where they shoot an arrow at the switch while it's midair. This slows down time and provides the player with extra time to react. Another effective technique is to use Recall to hold the ball over the pressure target and quickly cancel it by pressing the L-Button again, and then striking the switch.
Whatever method is used, if successful, the door to the next room will open, and players can use the launcher to cross the gap with their glider.
How to Solve the Second Puzzle in the Mayak Shrine
Players will come across a switch and a pool of water in the adjacent room, along with a launcher situated below the area. Activating the switch will cause a pressure target to emerge from beneath a platform, albeit temporarily.
Players will need to ascend the very tall room using the launcher on the right, then another launcher about halfway up.
At the top, players will find a familiar setup: a ramp and a large stone ball.
Using the ramp, the ball will effortlessly roll down and tip over the edge. To gain some extra time to position themselves, players have the option to use Recall and temporarily hold the ball in place. It's important to be cautious and make sure the ball doesn't accidentally roll back onto the flat pedestal.
To solve this puzzle, Link must act swiftly in reaching the switch. The presence of a water pool enables him to dive straight down from the ledge shown in the picture. However, for a faster approach, players are advised to drop down quickly and open their glider just above the switch.
Once it falls, the ball will accelerate quickly downward, requiring fast reflexes to time the switch.
Taking advantage of the slowed time by firing an arrow midair again is the suggested approach. Dropping alongside the ball can aid in timing alignment and improve visibility.
Players can utilize the Recall function once again in the second puzzle, which allows them to halt the ball's movement just before it descends to the bottom. By doing so, they can opt to cancel the initial drop and try a different approach by hitting the switch.
Players can enhance this technique by momentarily holding the ball in the intended target area. This added step enables players to exercise greater precision and finesse when executing the Recall method.
How to Get the Hidden Chest in the Mayak Shrine
Before leaving the tall room, players can find the shrine's hidden chest dangling from a rope over the pool of water in the corner of the room.
To retrieve the precious Large Zonai Charge from the chest, players can use the launchers to soar into the air and shoot an arrow mid-flight. This will cause the chest to safely land in the pool below. Once the chest is retrieved using Ultrahand, players can open it and claim their reward. With the Large Zonai Charge in hand, they can proceed to the final chamber and receive the coveted Light of Blessing from the statue.
