Unveiling the Hidden Secrets of Blupees in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

A dedicated Zelda fan uncovers the secrets of Blupees and Rupee drops in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, providing invaluable insights for players seeking to maximize their gaming experience

A Zelda fan has made a useful discovery about Blupees in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Blupees are typically a sign that a cave entrance is nearby, and they can transform into Bubbulfrogs, which are valuable for Bubbul Gems.

Upon waking up on the Great Sky Island in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Link finds himself with minimal money and items in his inventory. His Hylian gear and Master Sword have deteriorated, but players can find ancient Zonai attire in nearby chests. Luckily, Rauru assists Link in finding shrines, gaining new abilities, and preparing for the journey back to mainland Hyrule. Throughout the game, Link can earn Rupees and other useful materials from various sources, such as side quests, wooden crates, and treasure chests.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player Jakeb1616 recently discovered that when a Blupee emerges from a Bubbulfrog, it does not provide additional Rupees or rewards. Despite some players attempting to farm more Rupees from these creatures, Blupees only drop Rupees outside of caves. Interestingly, when a Blupee spawns from a Bubbulfrog, it cannot be harmed, and arrows pass through it, as shown in Jakeb1616's recorded gameplay clip.

Although Blupees cannot be caught and disappear quickly, skilled players can accumulate a significant amount of money before the creature enters a cave. By directly hitting a Blupee, players may cause it to drop Rupees, but the specific amount of Blue, Green, and Red Rupees may vary due to RNG. Once the Blupee disappears, a new Bubbulfrog made of other Blupees will appear. Defeating this creature rewards Link with a Bubbul Gem.

Some players were not surprised by Jakeb1616's discovery, but this tip is particularly helpful for players who initially believed that defeating the Bubbulfrog would result in Blupees dropping more Rupees. Other Zelda enthusiasts have put forth a theory suggesting that the Bubbul Gem is actually composed of concentrated Rupees from multiple Blupees, which would explain why the creature cannot drop additional Rupees after being defeated.

In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players can trade Bubbul Gems for special monster masks, providing Link with the ability to disguise himself while exploring Hyrule. To initiate the trading of Bubbul Gems for masks, players must first speak to Kilton and Koltin near Woodland Stable and complete the "The Hunt for Bubbul Gems" quest. Once completed, Kilton will relocate to Tarrey Town, and Link can consult with him for clues regarding Koltin's next whereabouts in Hyrule.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now for Nintendo Switch.
