Final Fantasy 14 players have discovered a major bug in the recent 6.5 update that grants random job buffs, regardless of party composition.

Players have taken to social media to report their findings and bring attention to the bug, which is difficult to reproduce. Instances of the bug include the activation of Dancer's Technical Step a staggering 246 times and the granting of buffs such as Black Mage's Triplecast to job classes that should not have access to it.

Some Final Fantasy 14 players took to social media to report a major bug in the recent 6.5 update. This bug allows players to receive random job buffs, regardless of whether the job associated with the buff is in the party or not. While replicating the bug has been difficult, players have shared their findings on social media to raise awareness among other players and Square Enix.

Released on October 3, Patch 6.5 of Final Fantasy 14 marks the conclusion of the current main story arc, which includes characters from Final Fantasy 4 such as Golbez and the Archfiends. In the Growing Light content update, players ventured into the Lunar Subterrane dungeon, faced off against Zeromus in the Abyssal Fracture trial, and learned more about Eorzea's Twelve through the Thaleia alliance raid. For those seeking a greater challenge, the Abyssal Fracture (Extreme) trial offered more difficult mechanics to overcome. However, some players encountered obstacles beyond Zeromus in their journey.

On Twitter, a user named temporoyales has reported a major bug in Final Fantasy 14. This bug allows players to receive random buffs from different combat Jobs, regardless of the party composition. The bug was demonstrated when temporoyales shared a log showing a Dancer's Technical Step and Technical Finish abilities being activated 246 times, which is not possible during a boss battle. On the other hand, the Dancer's Curing Waltz and En Avant abilities, used for healing and quick movement, were used three times, which falls within normal parameters. Surprisingly, buffs that should only benefit specific Jobs, such as the Black Mage's Triplecast, were granted to Jobs that would not typically have access to them.

Redditor DeathofTheHeavens, who previously reported a bug with the Warrior's Shake It Off ability in FF14 Patch 6.3, has posted additional evidence of this bug on the r/ffxiv subreddit. In their post, they mentioned that buffs like the Red Mage's Dualcast and Bard's Straight Shot were observed on Jobs that did not include any Red Mage or Bard. Other Reddit users shared their own experiences with the bug in the comments section and reported it to Square Enix in order to have it fixed as soon as possible.

Players have had varying experiences with the Growing Light content update, as they navigate between the recent bug discovery and speculation about the next playable race in Final Fantasy 14. Square Enix will need time to address this latest issue and unravel its root cause. Final Fantasy 14 is currently accessible on PC, PS4, and PS5, with an Xbox Series X/S release scheduled for Spring 2024.
