During the keynote address at the first in-person Fan Festival in four years, Final Fantasy 14 director and producer Naoki Yoshida provided players with a sneak peek of the new expansion, including an exciting graphics update. This upcoming chapter is being hailed as a fresh start for the Final Fantasy 14 main storyline following the thrilling conclusion of Endwalker.
Known as Dawntrail, this expansion transports Final Fantasy 14 players to Tural, a previously unexplored continent located far west of Eorzea. Up until now, Tural had only been referred to as the New World. This enigmatic land offers thrilling adventures and unparalleled discoveries as players venture into captivating locations, such as the legendary city of gold, Tuliyollal. Tural is a diverse land, inhabited by various peoples, including the familiar Mamool Ja from the original Final Fantasy 14. Drawing inspiration from South American cultures, this expansion is being touted as the ultimate summer vacation.
Final Fantasy 14 players can expect to encounter numerous challenges in Dawntrail. One of the main conflicts revolves around the succession of leadership in Tuliyollal. With the assistance of the Scions and familiar characters from the Final Fantasy 14 world, players will play a crucial role in determining the outcome of this contest. However, their allies may have differing opinions on how to solve this dilemma.
During their journey through Tural, players will come across various cultures and people. Uroqpacha is home to a clan of giants and the small but business-savvy Pelupelu. On the other hand, Yak T’el serves as a hub for both the Mamool Ja and the Hrothgar, who are native to Tural. As always, players can expect to face extraordinary trials in Dawntrail, including the legendary Valigarmanda, as they strive to reach the new level cap of 100 for their jobs.

The specifics of these jobs have not yet been disclosed by Final Fantasy 14, but the trailer showcases the Warrior of Light wielding a longsword and donning light armor, leading many to speculate that one of the jobs may be a swashbuckler class reminiscent of pirates. Notably, Yoshida, the director of the game, was seen wearing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shirt, possibly hinting that the melee class will utilize Ninja gear, while the caster role may be represented by a Green Mage.
The release of Dawntrail is anticipated to take place in the summer of 2024. Fans can look forward to further details about Dawntrail at Final Fantasy 14’s upcoming Fan Festival in London, scheduled for October 21 and 22.
