What Are Foils and Enchanted Cards?
While it is entirely possible to play Disney Lorcana without considering card rarity, having an understanding of it can greatly assist players in obtaining specific cards for their collection or deck. Rarity is a prevalent aspect in numerous trading card games. Whether players are novices in the trading card game community or seasoned players simply interested in familiarizing themselves with the various rarity symbols within the game, a brief overview can prove beneficial.
Disney Lorcana - Rarity Levels
- Disney Lorcana's First Chapter introduces a collection of 204 unique cards, categorized into six distinct rarity levels. The majority of cards are found within the common, uncommon, rare, super rare, and legendary rarity levels. However, there exists a select number of secret cards that possess a special Enchanted Rarity. These Enchanted Rarity cards are incredibly rare within the game and as a result, are highly coveted by players.Rarity is a measure of the card's scarcity and indicates how challenging it is to acquire. Common cards are the most commonly found in booster packs, followed by Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, and Legendary. To determine a card's rarity, players should check the symbol at the bottom center of the card, as depicted in the image above.
The different types of cards are visually represented as follows: a gray circle denotes a Common card, a white book signifies an Uncommon card, a bronze triangle indicates a Rare card, a silver diamond represents a Super Rare card, and a gold pentagon symbolizes a Legendary card. Enchanted Lorcana cards are portrayed by a rainbow-colored hexagon, and they hold a special significance.
What's in a Booster Pack?
The importance of rarity lies not in deck construction or gameplay mechanics, but rather in the selection of cards players will receive when opening a booster pack. Each booster pack includes the following:
6 Common Cards
3 Uncommon Cards
2 Rare or Better* Cards
1 Foil Card of any Rarity
The Rare or better cards have a chance of being Rare, Super Rare, or Legendary, but will never be Enchanted. Enchanted Cards instead can be found in the Foil Card slot.
What Are Foils and Enchanted Cards?
Foil cards add a touch of dazzle with their metallic finish, giving off a shinier appearance. These cards function just like their non-foiled counterparts, and you can find all 204 of Lorcana's cards in both foil and non-foil versions. Enchanted Cards take the concept of foil to another level, showcasing unique artwork. Currently, there are only 12 Enchanted Cards available to Lorcana players, each with its distinct design.
