During the 2023 San Diego Comic Con, a limited edition Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PlayStation 5 and a matching DualSense controller were announced. This announcement took place at one of the highly anticipated SDCC panels, where Insomniac Games developers and actors involved in the project were showcased.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to chat with the developers and actors, who revealed additional details about the plot and characters of the upcoming action-adventure game. One exciting revelation was that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will feature Aunt May's house in Queens, New York, along with other iconic locations in the city.
Following the panel with Insomniac, a limited-edition PS5 bundle for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was announced. This bundle showcases black symbiote tendrils spreading across the traditional red color and spider logo of Spider-Man. The bundle includes themed console covers and a DualSense wireless controller, as well as a digital standard copy of the game and pre-order goodies. These accessories will also be available for separate purchase for those who already own a PS5. Pre-orders for the Marvel's Spider-Man 2 bundle will open on July 28, and the individual items will launch on September 1.
The covers and controller's design was a collaborative effort with Insomniac Games, incorporating input from the studio's senior art director, Jacinda Chew. Chew sheds light on the fascinating theme, explaining that it draws inspiration from the in-game symbiote, which gradually engulfs the console and controller. However, amidst the tendrils, traces of the original red design are still visible.
