Unveiling Exclusive Pokemon in Teal Mask DLC for Scarlet and Violet Versions

Discover the potential version exclusive Pokemon in The Teal Mask DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as beloved older generation creatures make a comeback

The upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC is bringing back some older generation mons that have yet to be obtainable in the Gen 9 games. The Teal Mask and Indigo Disk expansions will not only introduce new creatures such as Okidogi, Munkidori, Fezandipiti, and Ogerpon, but also bring back several fan favorites. However, some of these returning creatures may end up being version exclusives, which has been a controversial mechanic in recent years. While originally intended to encourage players to trade and complete their Pokedex, some fans argue that it's just a ploy to get players to buy two copies of the same game. The base Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games also had their own version exclusives, so it's likely that the DLC will follow suit.

Pokemon Most Likely to Be Version Exclusives in The Teal Mask DLC

It is currently unknown whether the returning mons in The Teal Mask DLC will be exclusive to a specific version of the game. However, based on past DLCs for Pokemon Sword and Shield, it is possible that some of these mons may become version exclusives, requiring players to trade with the opposite version to obtain them. This is especially likely for mons like the Vulpix and Seedot lines, which have been exclusive to certain versions in past generations. Vulpix, for example, has been exclusive to Pokemon Blue and other generational appearances such as Pokemon Silver and LeafGreen, while Seedot was exclusive to Pokemon Ruby in Gen 3 and has also been version exclusive in other generations like Pokemon White and Sword. As such, it is highly probable that these mons will become version exclusives once again in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Other potential version-exclusive Pokémon have not yet been confirmed, but it is likely that two additional lines of Pokémon, similar to Vulpix and Seedot, will be exclusive to the opposite version. One possible counterpart to the Vulpix line is Milotic, as it shares a connection to beauty, like Ninetales, and has already been confirmed for the Scarlet and Violet's Teal Mask DLC. While finding a counterpart to the Seedot line is more challenging, the Grubbin line is the most probable candidate, as the only other three-stage evolutionary line confirmed to be returning. It's possible that other returning Pokémon could work well as version exclusives, but given Vulpix and Seedot's history of being version exclusives, it's likely they will be exclusive once again in Gen 9. Milotic and Grubbin stand out as the best counterparts to these lines due to their similarities, with the Chingling and Yanma lines being available in both versions.
