The gig "Waiting For Dodger" in Cyberpunk 2077 offers a blend of bumbling police officers, amusing dialogue, and a comical escort mission that takes an unexpected turn.
Players can decide whether to support the officers' falsehoods or expose them, resulting in either an adrenaline-fueled climax or a lighthearted and humorous resolution to the quest.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is a spy-thriller adventure that delves into themes of betrayal, personal honor, and secrets. The extensive storyline and additional side jobs offered in the DLC can be overwhelming for players. However, the main story expansion provides a much-needed comedic relief. As players progress, they will encounter Mr. Hands, a fixer who assigns a series of three short and amusing jobs. The third job, Waiting For Dodger, specifically caters to fans' desire for humor.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty's Waiting For Dodger Gig
In the Waiting For Dodger gig, players are in for a surprise when they answer Mr. Hands' call. Instead of the usual quick fetch quests, this gig involves two Night City Police Department officers being trapped by a dealer. The first part of the quest involves meeting Stella, the fiancée of one of the officers.
Stella can be found near the entrance gate of Dogtown, sitting in a car. As players get into the vehicle, Stella advises them to quickly lower the seat to avoid attracting attention from Dodger's lackeys. While players may debate Stella's decision, the seat lowers down so slowly that it might elicit a laugh from them. This seemingly insignificant detail gives players a glimpse of what they can expect from the Waiting For Dodger gig.
Waiting For Dodger May Be the Funniest Quest in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
When V arrives, fans are greeted by a gruesome sight - the battered officers covered in blood. Surprisingly, V lets out a chuckle, reassuring them that the blood isn't theirs. To everyone's astonishment, it is revealed that the henchman who had trapped the officers is now a lifeless corpse. Even V questions the situation, sarcastically declaring their innocence beside the dead body. This scene stands apart from other significant moments in the DLC, notably the arrival of Solomon Reed.
As the officers explain that they had to slice open the lackey to retrieve Dodger's drugs, which had been absorbed into his system, the dark humor continues. Both members of the NCPD, Bill and Charlie, are exposed as completely incompetent. The gig quickly transitions into an escort mission to ensure the safety of Bill and Charlie on their way back to Stella. Throughout the journey, the two of them incessantly argue, with V caught in the crossfire. Bill is blamed for leading Charlie into this dangerous part of Night City, while Charlie angrily shouts that Bill couldn't even keep the drugs in his pocket to save his own life.
In order to inject more humor into the mission, V is faced with a decision at the end that solely benefits players. When V and the officers encounter Dodger himself, Charlie and Bill fabricate a false explanation as to why they no longer possess the drugs. It is then up to V to either support their deception or expose the truth about the Cyberpunk 2077 NPCs. If players align themselves with Charlie and Bill, the action commences. However, if fans opt to reveal their dishonesty, the police will divulge the truth, resulting in Dodger finding the situation incredibly amusing and granting Bill and Charlie absolution. This quest not only contains an abundance of laughter but also serves as a lighthearted counterbalance to the more serious elements of the DLC.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty can be enjoyed on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
