Britney Spears discussed Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera's favorable media coverage in the 2000s in her memoir, The Woman in Me. A reliable source confirmed that Spears, 41, also mentioned Timberlake and Aguilera's collaborative appearance on the cover of Rolling Stone. Spears vividly recalls seeing the captivating images where Timberlake, now 42, gazed at Aguilera with alluring eyes, and reading the accompanying cover story.
Timberlake and Aguilera, who were also part of the All New Mickey Mouse Club with Spears, joined forces for the June 2003 issue of Rolling Stone ahead of their upcoming joint tour. Aguilera described Spears, who had ended her relationship with Timberlake the previous year following rumors of cheating, as his "perfect match."
"Timberlake and Britney were an amazing couple. I've known them both since our time on the Mickey Mouse Club, and even then, they had feelings for each other," Aguilera revealed. "Britney has known him for such a long time, from before he became the famous Justin Timberlake, when he was just Justin, the young boy on the Mickey Mouse Club. I have a gut feeling that they will reconcile. I know they still talk and have a good relationship. I believe it's not over between them."
While Timberlake didn't address Aguilera's pleas for a reconciliation with Spears, he did address dating rumors involving Aguilera. "We've been rumored to have had a romance, which is completely false. We're simply good friends," he jokingly stated. "I wouldn't say we're the closest of friends or that we hang out all the time, but that's mainly due to our hectic schedules and the nature of our work."
KMazur/WireImageAccording to an insider, Spears expressed her confusion towards Aguilera's comments in The Woman in Me. The pop stars, frequently compared in the ‘90s and early 2000s, had a media-fueled feud.
"In 2004, Aguilera spoke to Blender magazine about her attempts to start a conversation with Spears, but noticed that she seemed nervous throughout. Aguilera described Spears as a lost little girl in need of guidance.
However, Spears responded to Aguilera's account during her own interview with Blender that year. She expressed her frustration with Aguilera's previous rudeness and stated that she no longer wanted to be involved in fake interactions. Spears also expressed disbelief at what Aguilera had revealed in her cover story."

Aguilera has shown her support for the #FreeBritney movement, expressing her willingness to speak with Britney and being cautious about discussing the matter out of respect and admiration. She shared these thoughts during an interview on The Enrique Santos Show in January 2022, following the termination of Spears' 13-year conservatorship in June the previous year. Aguilera expressed her happiness for Britney's newfound freedom.
Aguilera recently expressed her well wishes to Spears on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this month, stating, "I hope everything is going well for her and that everything is beautiful. We should celebrate the future."
Timberlake has chosen not to publicly respond to the revelations in Spears' book. However, a source told Us that he is actively "trying to distance himself" from the memoir. The insider shared, "Justin and Britney dated a long time ago, and he now has a completely different life. He is focused on his family, his career, and moving forward, and he would prefer to leave anything from their past behind."
