Britney Spears claimed that she was unaware that ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib was married when she began dating the paparazzo.

According to a source, Spears, aged 41, revealed in her memoir "The Woman in Me" that she had no idea she was involved with Ghalib as his mistress when they began their relationship in late 2007.

Despite not knowing his marital status, Spears and Ghalib enjoyed a thrilling and passionate relationship. It was only after their breakup in 2008 that Spears discovered he was married.

During her time with Ghalib, Spears was also going through a divorce from Kevin Federline, 45, and they were trying to navigate co-parenting their sons, Sean Preston and Jayden.

During her boys' time spent with their father, Spears experienced feelings of "depression" and a longing for attention. According to the insider, she found solace in a "lustful relationship" with Ghalib. Their split coincided with the same year when her father, Jamie Spears, initiated the process of putting her under conservatorship.

In a passage published by People, Britney expresses her devastating experience of the conservatorship, stating, "I transformed into a robot, specifically a child-like robot. The excessive control over me had a detrimental effect on my sense of identity." She continues to elaborate on how the conservatorship stripped away her womanhood and turned her into a mere child, depriving her of her true essence. On stage, she felt more like a soulless entity rather than a human being. Britney reveals that her deep connection to music, which had always flowed through her veins, was also taken away from her.

In 2009, Jamie, Britney's father, took legal action by filing for a restraining order against Ghalib, Sam Lufti (Britney's former associate), and Jon Eardley (her lawyer). He accused this trio of attempting to interfere with the conservatorship. The restraining order was successfully obtained and lasted for a duration of three years.

After her relationship with Ghalib, Britney found love again with her former manager, Jason Trawick. They became engaged in 2011 but ultimately cancelled their wedding plans two years later. It wasn't until 2022, after nearly 6 years of dating, that Britney finally walked down the aisle with Sam Ashgari. Unfortunately, their marriage lasted only one year before Ashgari, 28, filed for divorce from Britney, citing irreconcilable differences in August.

The release date for The Woman in Me is set for Tuesday, October 24.
