Fans of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will soon have the opportunity to expand their Amiibo figure collection, as Nintendo has revealed the upcoming additions. During the recent Nintendo Direct broadcast, no further details on Tears of the Kingdom were shared, but Nintendo expressed gratitude to the fans for the game's immense success.
Similar to their functionality in Breath of the Wild, Amiibo figures can be scanned in Tears of the Kingdom to provide rewards for Link. Activating the Amiibo ability will cause Link's arm to emit a white glow, and players will be prompted to scan an Amiibo figure by tapping it on the Right Joy-Con or the middle of a Switch Pro Controller. While non-Zelda figures usually grant Link a few ingredients at a time, figures from The Legend of Zelda series can bestow upon Link a treasure chest once a day. These chests may contain new weapons, armor pieces, or even a different appearance for the paraglider. Soon, Tears of the Kingdom players will have two more figures to enhance their collections.
Following the release of the Link Amiibo for Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo announced that figures of Zelda and Ganondorf in their respective attires from the game will be released later this holiday season. The rewards that these Amiibo will offer to players who scan them are currently unknown. However, a recent datamine revealed new paragliders that bear similarities to Zelda's and Ganondorf's designs from Tears of the Kingdom. It remains to be seen whether these Amiibo will provide the same paragliders or offer different rewards compared to previous figures.
Despite the excitement surrounding the upcoming release of the Tears of the Kingdom Zelda and Ganondorf Amiibo figures, Nintendo has not provided any updates on downloadable content (DLC) for the game. However, given the game's strong sales, it is highly anticipated that Nintendo will eventually reveal their plans for future updates and expansions.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now for Nintendo Switch.
