The Master Sword is one of the most iconic and powerful weapons in The Legend of Zelda series. In the story of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Link unfortunately loses this legendary weapon early on. However, the game's main story quests eventually lead players back to the Master Sword. Its importance and significance in the game make it a weapon players strive to obtain and wield to defeat enemies and progress through the game.

The Master Sword in Tears of the Kingdom is a formidable weapon, much like in Breath of the Wild. However, with the return of weapon durability, players may be cautious about using it too frequently and risking its breakage.

Does the Master Sword Break?

One of the biggest concerns for players in Tears of the Kingdom is whether the Master Sword is prone to breaking like other weapons. Fortunately, the Master Sword is unique in this aspect and cannot be broken. However, players need to keep in mind that the sword's energy gradually depletes with each use to damage enemies. So, while it cannot break, it still needs to be recharged. When the energy levels run low, players will receive a notification stating, "The Master Sword is running low on energy".

Once Link lands a few more hits, the Master Sword will lose its energy and disappear from his hand, but it will still be available in his inventory. Players can find the Master Sword in the weapons tab, but it will be faded out to indicate its cooldown period. Hovering the cursor over the sword will reveal the remaining time until it can be used again.

Can the Master Sword be Fused?

To wield the power of the Master Sword in Breath of the Wild, players must be aware of its recharge time. After being used, the sword enters a 10-minute cooldown period before it can be used again. To ensure that the sword is available when needed, players should use it wisely and avoid excessive use that triggers the cooldown. A notification on the screen will indicate when the sword is fully recharged and ready for use.

Enhancing the attack power of the Master Sword is possible through fusion with other materials. Players can fuse various objects onto the sword to increase its attack power beyond the default level, which is unfortunately not visible in-game. Upon fusion, green runes will appear along the length of the blade, indicating the successful integration of the materials.

The Master Sword also features a distinctive visual effect, as seen in the image above where it has been combined with a diamond. However, it's worth noting that these enhancements to the sword's attack power are not permanent. When the sword's energy is depleted, any item fused with it will be lost. Therefore, it's advisable to preserve any items that offer a substantial power boost for difficult encounters.
