Even Pokemon GO, which has connectivity with Home, leaves Pokemon Sleep out of the complete package. However, it is reasonable that Pokemon Sleep does not connect with Home since it is a distinct title from the others that come with the subscription service.
Pokemon Sleep's Pokemon Are Helpers, Not Fighters
In Pokemon Sleep, players are not focused on battling their creatures against each other. Instead, they are tasked with assisting a Snorlax in achieving the most restful sleep possible. This helps Professor Neroli gain a deeper understanding of how pocket monsters sleep, doze, and slumber. Although players can assemble a team of Pokemon to aid in this effort, their main responsibility is to gather berries and ingredients to enhance Snorlax's stamina. This stamina, however, is utilized for its Drowsy Power and not for battling purposes.
As a result, the critters that assist fans on a daily basis are not ideally suited for combat as it currently stands. Transferring them would likely entail the creation of move sets and statistics for these Pokemon, which could mean additional work for Niantic and Select Button. Although there are ways to facilitate this process, such as assigning specific special IDs to each creature to enable them to acquire moves when transferred, it may not be entirely worthwhile considering that the primary goal of Pokemon Sleep is to promote healthy habits rather than competitive gameplay.
Pokemon Spin Off Games Usually Don't Have Transfer Features
Some fans who didn't request Pokemon Home integration may be perplexed as to why this feature was anticipated from Pokemon Sleep, a sleep-tracking app. However, given the close association between Sleep and Pokemon GO, with shared features and Niantic's involvement in both games' development, fans might have assumed a connection to Pokemon Home.
From that standpoint, it is somewhat understandable why the feature might have been anticipated, but it overlooks the reason why Sleep ultimately became a standalone game with no logical connection for transferring Pokemon. While Pokemon GO significantly altered player expectations for Home, it is an exception rather than the norm.
Currently, Niantic's AR mobile app is the only spin-off game that allows for connectivity to Pokemon Home. The only spin-off games that enabled transfer capabilities were the Colosseum titles, although the creatures had to be Purified in order to be sent to other games. Other titles like Pokemon Channel and Pokemon Ranger only distributed Mythical Pokemon, with no further transfer options available.
Players can transfer critters they catch during their daily lives and place them in Pokemon Home, which is incredible. However, this does not apply to the creatures used for sleep research with Snorlax. While some completionists and Shiny Hunters may be disappointed that their rare finds may disappear if the game ever shuts down, they can look forward to many more opportunities in future games.
