Nintendo has announced exciting new updates for Pokemon Home, with one highly-anticipated feature being the ability to alter a Pokemon's moveset using a comprehensive list of all moves it has ever learned. This popular application, which operates similarly to its predecessor Pokemon Bank for Nintendo 3DS, provides a convenient cloud-based storage for players to trade, transfer, and store their Pokemon across generations of games. Following the May release of compatibility between the latest titles Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Pokemon Home, players can now access rare items from the auctions of these games. Additionally, Pokemon Home continues to add new quality-of-life features, such as the option to change the way a player's Pokemon acquire new moves.
Nintendo has recently announced a new feature in Pokemon Home Version 3.0.0 that will allow players to customize their Pokemon's moveset by selecting moves from all the moves the Pokemon has ever learned. This feature will be available to players who bring their Pokemon from Pokemon Home to a compatible linked game. Many users have expressed their excitement for this new feature, as it addresses concerns about the possibility of losing a Pokemon's moveset when transferring it to another game. Players can now avoid the frustration of unintentionally altering their Pokemon's build. However, players should take note that certain moves may not be available in the latest game, such as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, when transferring Pokemon from older generations.
Despite the addition of helpful features to Pokemon Home, fans are still dissatisfied with the application due to its limitations on transferring certain Pokemon to and from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as well as previous games. This restriction has resulted in popular Pokemon like Generation 1 Squirtle and Snorlax being excluded from the Paldea region. However, the integration between Pokemon Home and the latest Pokemon games has opened up new opportunities for players to engage with their Pokemon. Fans eagerly anticipated this connectivity for a year and a half, and despite some visual and technical issues, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet sold over 10 million units within their first week of release and exceeded 20 million in 2022. These games are the first open-world Pokemon titles, offering players a non-linear path to explore the new Paldea region and embark on their journey.
Pokemon Home is available on Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch.
