After meeting The Dame and gaining entry to Northreach in Final Fantasy 16, players will unlock three new side quests. While the rewards for completing these quests aren't significant, they offer additional understanding of the impact of Imperial rule on the settlement.
One of these quests, "The Want Beyond the Wall," sheds light on the risks that the people of Northreach are willing to face to obtain forbidden items. Interestingly, it is Clive who assumes most of the risk, as players are assigned the task of delivering highly restricted items to individuals residing outside the gates of the settlement.
How to Complete The Want Beyond the Wall in Final Fantasy 16
Players can initiate the "The Want Beyond the Wall" side quest in Final Fantasy 16 once they reach the "The Dame" subquest of "Righting Wrongs." To trigger this quest, they need to interact with a merchant named Etienne, who can be located near The Veil, not far from The Iron Flagon. Etienne will request Clive's assistance in delivering several packages to individuals outside the southern wall of Northreach. In return, Clive must retrieve the items provided by these individuals.
After conversing with Etienne and initiating "The Want Beyond the Wall," players need to backtrack through the gate to the outdoor market area. It is crucial to interact with the Tinker, the Herbalist, and the Liquormonger, all of whom are stationed in close proximity. Positioned directly across from the gate, the Liquormonger will present Brandywine as a reward upon receiving her parcel. Subsequently, players should veer to the left in order to locate the Herbalist, who will express gratitude to Clive by gifting a box of cigars. Lastly, situated to the right of the Herbalist, players will encounter the Tinker, who will compensate for the delivery with a bottle of Essence of Rose perfume.
Upon delivering all three packages, players can return to Etienne to exchange the received items. It is at this moment that the merchant reveals the forbidden crystals found within the packages, an offense in the Holy Empire of Sanbreque. However, luck is on Clive's side as the guards remain unaware, allowing him to escape punishment and claim his rewards. The merchant then hands over 1,000 Gil, and players also earn 19 XP. Although there are no additional items for completing this FF 16 side quest, the generous monetary reward compensates for it. Final Fantasy 16 is now exclusively available for the PlayStation 5.
