Where to Find Monster ExtractWhat to Do with Monster Extract
In the world of Tears of the Kingdom, players will collect over 100 different materials as they progress in the game. These materials serve various purposes, including cooking and fusion. One such material is Monster Extract, which, when combined with other ingredients, can yield unique and flavorful meals.
While Monster Extract is relatively inexpensive to purchase, it is not readily available in general stores or dropped by defeated monsters. In fact, there is only a single shop in Tears of the Kingdom that sells this item, and it can also be obtained as a reward for completing a side quest. Thankfully, both the side quest and the shop that offers Monster Extract are conveniently located in the East Akkala region.
Where to Find Monster Extract
Slippery Falcon (Tarrey Town Branch)
Monster Extract can be obtained in Tarrey Town (4008, 1617, 0127), where players have two options to acquire it. Firstly, they can assist Kilton and receive Monster Extract as a reward. Alternatively, players can purchase it from Fyson for a cost of 50 Rupees. In case players find themselves short on Rupees, they can sell gems or meals until they accumulate the necessary amount.
Located near the entrance to Tarrey Town, on the right, is Fyson's store called "Sippery Falcon." Here, players can purchase x3 bottles of Monster Extract for 50 Rupees. Fyson's store is the sole provider of this uncommon item, making it the only reliable source for those who have already completed the quest "A Monstrous Collection." Obtainable exclusively from Fyson, Monster Extract can be acquired by visiting his establishment in TotK.
A Monstrous Collection Side Quest (Kilton)
In the side quest "A Monstrous Collection," Kilton will reward Link with a bottle of Monster Extract for each photo of a requested monster that is turned in. Similar to Fyson, Kilton can be found in Tarrey Town after players have encountered him near Woodland Stable. However, there are three prerequisites that must be fulfilled before embarking on this side quest:
If players do not possess the camera, they must visit Lookout Landing and engage in a conversation with Josha and Robbie. This interaction will initiate a side quest titled "Camera Work in The Depths." Upon completion of this quest, Link will obtain both the camera and the Hyrule Compendium.
Head to Pico Pond, situated northeast of Woodland Stable, at coordinates (1208, 1214, 0020). Kilton and Koltin can be found near the cave in this area. Interacting with them will activate the side quest known as "The Hunt for Bubbul Gems." Proceed into the Pico Pond Cave and locate the Bubbulfrog. Collect its gem and hand it over to Koltin. Subsequently, Kilton will inform Link about his relocation to Tarrey Town.
Upon reaching Tarrey Town, players are required to complete the side adventure titled "Mattison's Independence." This adventure comprises multiple tasks, but once it is successfully concluded and Mattison departs for Gerudo Town, players can commence the "A Monstrous Collection" quest.
What to Do with Monster Extract
In order to create monster statues, Kilton requires Link to provide him with photographs of five different monsters. Link simply needs to take a picture of the chosen monster and show it to Kilton. Each time a part of "A Monstrous Collection" is finished, Kilton will reward Link with a bottle of Monster Extract. As there are a total of five parts in "A Monstrous Collection," players have the opportunity to obtain up to five Monster Extracts through this side adventure.
Monster Extract can be used to cook the following meals:
Monster Curry
Monster Soup
Monster Cake
Monster Stew
To unlock the Hateno Village garden and grow their own crops, players must cook Monster Curry during part 2 of the side quest "Teach Me A Lesson" at the Hateno School in Hateno Village (coordinates 3367, -1991, 0128).
