1.1.2 Duplicate Item Glitches - Rock Octoroks and Tarrey Town's Custom Home1.1.1 (Old) Tears of the Kingdom's Unfound Items Duplication GlitchThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was met with praise for its well-executed abilities, but it was not without its glitches. Among them were the ability to duplicate items using Rock Octoroks and a glitch in Tarrey Town's Custom Home. Despite these minor setbacks, the game remained a fan favorite for its impressive gameplay mechanics.
After the 1.1.2 update, most dupe glitches have been fixed, but some resourceful players have found new ways to exploit item duplication in Tears of the Kingdom.
Note: This fragment has been rephrased to provide a more concise and clear explanation of the current situation regarding dupe glitches in the game.
1.1.2 Dupe Glitches – Rock Octoroks, and Tarrey Town's Custom Home
Octoroks and Recall Duplication Method
Duplicating items in Tears of the Kingdom can now be done using a fresh method that involves Rock Octoroks and the Recall ability. These creatures can be spotted all over Hyrule, particularly in mountainous areas and Eldin Canyon. As per The Hard Drive, there are four simple steps to follow once Link discovers a Rock Octorok.
To activate Recall without accessing the ability menu, approach the Rock Octorok and drop a weapon or shield in front of it while it's hiding. Alternatively, players can throw a weapon close to the Octorok, being careful not to hit it. As the Rock Octorok begins to suck up the equipment, activate Recall just before it enters its mouth. The timing doesn't need to be exact, but players should select the weapon before it disappears in the monster's mouth to ensure it's duplicated. End Recall, retrieve the original item, and let the Octorok's animation play out. The duplicated item should be both repaired and buffed, just like the original. Keep in mind that this glitch only works once on each weapon, as Rock Octoroks can only repair degraded items once before a Blood Moon resets them. Before attempting this duplication glitch, save the game and be aware that players only get one shot at it.
Shock Emitters and the Tarrey Town House
To duplicate items in Tears of the Kingdom 1.1.2, players can use a glitch involving the Tarrey Town home display rooms and the Zonai Shock Emitter device. After completing Mattison's Independence quest and purchasing land for a house, players can buy three different rooms to display collected weapons. To successfully duplicate a specific weapon, players must purchase the corresponding display room – Weapon Stand for swords and the respective rooms for shields or bows. However, executing this glitch requires precise timing, as noted by GamerRevolution.
To duplicate a weapon, place a Zonai Shock Emitter device on the stand and activate it by hitting it. Move close to the stand until the display prompt appears, then walk slowly towards it until Link gets shocked. As soon as Link's shock animation starts, press the display prompt for the target of your weapon or shield duplication. Keep in mind that while this method will cause Link to take damage, his equipped weapon will be copied onto the display stand. This process can be repeated multiple times, and materials can also be fused to weapons to create copies. For a way to undo the fusion on these weapons, head down to Tarrey Town, although it may be a bit convoluted in TOTK 1.1.2.
1.1.1 Tears of the Kingdom Unfound Items Duplication Glitch (Old)
In order to duplicate a weapon, shield, or bow in Tears of the Kingdom, players must first locate an equippable item that meets two specific criteria. Firstly, the item must be one that Link has not yet picked up. Secondly, it must be stronger than any other item currently in Link's inventory. If the desired item appears in the world as "???" with a green up arrow next to it, players will know it meets these requirements and can proceed with the duplication process. Prior to attempting the duplication, players must ensure that Link is not currently equipped with any weapons or shields. Additionally, players must have at least one weaker item of the same type in their inventory in order for the duplication to be successful. For example, if a player wishes to duplicate a shield, they must already possess a weaker shield in their inventory.
Pick up the un-acquired upgrade on the ground while the player is only equipped with armor. This will trigger the new item popup window. Instead of exiting, click the + button to access Link's inventory directly from the pop-up.
Organize your inventory by Strength by using the Y button. This will place the new item on the far left. Next, equip a weapon or shield that you don't mind losing because it will be replaced with a copy of the one on the ground. Once you have done this, exit the menu and confirm the pop-up window.
Despite not actually being equipped, Link will seem to be holding the weapon or shield that was on the ground. Check Link's inventory to see that the currently equipped weapon or shield has the same model as the duplicated item, but retains its original name.
Once you’ve found a weapon or shield that you really like in the game, you may want to duplicate it and keep it for future battles. Fortunately, this is possible by simply dropping the equipped item onto the ground. Upon doing so, the item will transform into another copy of the weapon or shield you just discovered. The best part is that the new item will have all the same stats and properties as the original, with no drawbacks or conditions attached. The only thing you’ll lose is the item that was replaced.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
