Unleashing the Ultimate Strategy: Conquer the Final Boss Fight in Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom

Tears of the Kingdom player discovers a familiar strategy for defeating the final boss in Zelda Find out how this clever tactic can help even experienced gamers emerge victorious

A player of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has discovered a trick that makes defeating the game's final boss easier. This discovery was shared online shortly after data-mining efforts suggested the possibility of future DLC for Tears of the Kingdom. Be warned, spoilers for the game's late stages lie ahead. In typical fashion for the franchise, the game culminates in a mission to defeat Ganondorf. The final fight consists of four stages and can prove to be quite challenging, particularly during the third phase when Demon King Ganondorf launches a range of attacks, including one that envelops Link in a rapidly advancing red mist.

A savvy tactic for tackling the final boss fight in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom involves deflecting the lethal red clouds instead of trying to dodge them. According to a Reddit user named KirbyOfHyrule, Link can successfully send back the dangerous orbs at Ganondorf with a well-timed charged attack. This technique not only inflicts considerable damage to the boss, but also proves to be much simpler than dodging all five clouds. Considering the frequency with which Ganon employs this attack during the third phase of the battle, deflecting the orbs could potentially shorten the fight duration and provide a chance to score some free hits. To execute this move, players must time their charged attack accurately, but the only requirement is to have the Master Sword in Tears of the Kingdom. Other weapons will inevitably break after deflecting a single orb, whereas the Master Sword remains unbreakable during the Ganondorf fight.

Fans of the series may recognize this move as a nod to a game of laser tennis Link played with Ganondorf and other opponents throughout the franchise. This technique, commonly known as "dead man's volley," involves deflecting ranged energy attacks with the Master Sword. The name was coined in the 2007 Nintendo DS game Phantom Hourglass, but the move actually originated in the 1991 SNES classic A Link to the Past, the third installment in The Legend of Zelda series. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can now be played on the Switch.
