Highlights
Sledge in Rainbow Six Siege is set to receive a thrilling addition to his repertoire: the iconic Master Chief from Halo will join the ranks as an Elite skin. This collaboration follows a long-standing tradition of exciting crossovers in the game, which have previously included popular franchises like Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed, and Nier.
Rainbow Six Siege remains a flourishing competitive shooter, propelled by its dynamic live service framework and consistent updates. Despite some minor skin issues, like the sledgehammer's clipping, fans are eagerly awaiting the official announcement and launch of the Master Chief bundle.
Ubisoft is introducing a new operator skin in Rainbow Six Siege, featuring a renowned character from Xbox's Halo games, as part of their ongoing partnership. Despite a challenging start in 2015, Rainbow Six Siege has achieved remarkable success and has become a prominent fixture in the competitive shooter genre, showcasing Ubisoft's proficiency in first-person shooters. In an effort to build on the triumph of Siege, Ubisoft recently unveiled Rainbow Six Extraction in 2022, a PvE spinoff that received moderate reviews.
Being a long-running live service game, Rainbow Six Siege offers a wide selection of operator skins and bundles, similar to its competitor Call of Duty. The game frequently collaborates with other popular franchises, predominantly within the realm of video games. Ubisoft's decision to incorporate Sam Fisher, the protagonist of their Splinter Cell series, was met with controversy since fans were disappointed by the lack of genuine Splinter Cell plans at the time. Additionally, Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft's highly esteemed franchise, made an appearance in Rainbow Six Siege with the Master Assassin bundle. Furthermore, within the past year, Siege introduced 2B and Nier from Square Enix's Nier franchise as additional operator skins.
Rainbow Six Siege is about to welcome another iconic gaming character - Master Chief from Halo. Shared by Klobrille on Twitter, a video showcases Master Chief as an Elite skin for Sledge. Wearing his Halo Infinite Mjolnir armor, which is influenced by Halo 3's suit, he wields a modified version of Sledge's hammer resembling the Gravity Hammer from the Halo universe. The video also features an animation where Chief uses his grapple hook from Halo Infinite and smashes a Plasma Grenade with his hammer.
Although it may seem unusual to see Master Chief using a sledgehammer, it actually makes sense that he is a skin for Sledge because Sledge is the face of Rainbow Six Siege, just as Chief is the face of Halo. Although the skin looks impressive, there is a minor issue with the sledgehammer clipping through a piece of armor on Chief's back when he rests it on his shoulder. This could be the reason why the bundle has not been officially confirmed or announced by Rainbow Six. One potential solution to this problem could be to switch the skin to a different operator like Smoke or Mute, eliminating the clipping issue by removing the hammer altogether.
With the ongoing Season 3 of Siege, known as Operation Heavy Mettle, Ubisoft may potentially introduce a Master Chief skin by the season's end. As Ubisoft prepares to release XDefiant, their new free-to-play FPS game that combines factions from all across Ubisoft's extensive range of titles, it remains to be seen if it will pose a significant challenge to their long-standing success with Rainbow Six Siege. However, one thing is certain - Ubisoft's internal crossovers are on the rise.
Rainbow Six Siege is currently available on Luna, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
