Originally released on June 20th, 2006, Naxxramas stood as the ultimate challenge for raiders in World of Warcraft. As the final 40-man raid introduced in the game, Naxxramas proved to be one of the most challenging raids, with only a small number of guilds managing to conquer it before The Burning Crusade expansion was released. Due to its limited accessibility, Blizzard made the decision to revamp Naxxramas and include it as a starting raid in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.

How to Start

Although the alterations made to Naxxramas greatly increased the number of players who were able to conquer it, numerous original items and recipes that were once obtainable have been lost throughout the passage of time. However, with the emergence of Patch 10.1.5, a select few of these vanished items and recipes (excluding the famous Atiesh Legendary weapon, naturally) have resurfaced as a hidden treasure for avid World of Warcraft gamers to uncover.

Before unveiling the long-lost mysteries of Naxxramas, players are required to fulfill a concealed objective in order to access the former iteration of the Scholomance dungeon. After accomplishing this task, venture into the diminutive side chamber where Eva's Journal is located. Right-click on the journal and peruse its contents to gain entrance into the old rendition of Scholomance.

Find the Cracked Argent Dawn Commission

Once you enter the dungeon, proceed downwards to find Rattlegore's location. On the left side of the room, atop one of the bone piles, you'll discover a small object called the Cracked Argent Dawn Commission. Take note, this item can be picked up. However, it requires repair using one Righteous Orb obtained from Stratholme and four Truesilver Bars. Truesilver Bars can be either crafted by Miners or purchased from the Auction House. Another option is for Alchemists to transmute Mithril Bars into Truesilver Bars.

After successfully repairing the Cracked Argent Dawn Commission, equip it in the trinket slot. Be sure to equip it before proceeding to the Headmaster's Study in Scholomance to confront and defeat Darkmaster Gandling. To trigger the appearance of Darkmaster Gandling, players first need to acquire the Viewing Room key from Rattlegore. Additionally, all the bosses in the side rooms of the Headmaster's Study must be defeated.

Defeat Darkmaster Gandling to obtain a valuable item known as Darkmaster's Scourgestone. This extraordinary item will kickstart a captivating quest. To commence this quest, make your way to Light's Hope Chapel in the Eastern Plaguelands and deliver the Scourgestone to Duke Nicholas Zverenhoff. Don't forget to keep the Argent Dawn Commission equipped throughout. Although it may appear to be a dead end, the successful completion of this quest unlocks the next thrilling chapter of this clandestine adventure.

Empower the Commission

Enter the Stratholme dungeon in Eastern Plaguelands through the main entrance. Take note of accessible lootable boxes and ensure to collect a Stratholme Holy Water. Engage groups of enemies using AoE attacks to target the elusive Eye of Naxxramas. Once provoked, this enemy will exclaim, "The living are here!".

While in search of the Eye of Naxxramas, refrain from passing through the eastern gate that leads to the undead section. Doing so before obtaining and utilizing the Ward of Naxxramas will disrupt the subsequent step, requiring players to reset the dungeon in order to progress.

Upon defeating this unseen foe, players will have the opportunity to collect a Ward of Naxxramas. Proceed towards the western direction, leading to the cathedral. When positioned in front of the cathedral entrance, direct your gaze towards the left side to locate a shut gate.

Approach the crystal and utilize the Ward of Naxxramas to conjure a diminutive crystal. Employ a right-click on the Stratholme Holy Water and accurately direct it towards the designated target illustrated in the image above. Successfully hitting the stone with the Stratholme Holy Water will result in players receiving a debuff lasting for a duration of five minutes.

Kill Aurius Rivendare

To advance further, it is crucial for players to eliminate Aurius Rivendare within the given timeframe of five minutes while they are afflicted with the debuff. It is essential to have some form of enhancing movement speed to successfully accomplish this task within the allotted time. Players experiencing difficulties will find it comparatively easier as either a Feral Druid or a Demon Hunter.

In order to confront Aurius Rivendare, players are required to first disable all three ziggurats and subsequently eliminate all adversaries positioned outside the edifice where Aurius Rivendare patiently awaits. Once Aurius Rivendare is vanquished, expediently bolt out of the building and promptly steer towards the now accessible gate on the right-hand side. On the opposing end, there lies a sealed gateway, guarded by an enemy who is solemnly engaged in casting a powerful spell.

Talk to Archmage Angela Dosantos

Head back to Light's Hope Chapel and locate Archmage Angela Dosantos, who can be found sitting to the right of the chapel entrance. Engaging in a conversation with her will trigger a quest activation. She is willing to enhance the Argent Dawn Commission, but the required materials and gold may vary depending on the player's rank within the Argent Dawn. The specific amount necessary to complete this quest depends on the player's reputation with the faction.

Honored: Six Large Brilliant Shards, five Arcane Crystals, one Righteous Orb, 60 gold.

Revered: Three Large Brilliant Shards, two Arcane Crystals, 30 gold.

No materials required.

Reaching exalted status is crucial for successfully finishing this quest. Players can achieve higher reputation with the Argent Dawn by repeatedly running both Scholomance and Stratholme. Once this is accomplished, there is no longer a need to equip the Argent Dawn Commission.

Upon finishing this quest, proceed to the depicted location in the image above where a captivating floating crystal can be found. Engaging with this crystal will swiftly teleport players into a remarkably unique rendition of the renowned 10-man/25-man Naxxramas. This exceptional experience grants players the opportunity to tirelessly pursue the coveted recipes and abundant resources that lie in wait within its depths.
