A resource-friendly option for creating ice slabs has been discovered by a adventurous player of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This new technique is highly efficient and does not significantly deplete weapon durability. It is both speedy and hilarious, providing players with an insane amount of ice slabs. This technique adds to the game's fandom's history of finding efficient ways to freeze water, as demonstrated by a previous trick utilizing Breath of the Wild's ice powers.
The latest Zelda game does not have the Cryonis rune from its predecessor. However, it makes up for it with a combination of Zonai devices and item-fusing mechanics that give Link more ways to create frozen structures. Using makeshift contraptions, players have been able to create deadly weaponry and cross large bodies of water in Tears of the Kingdom.
While there are many tricks to create ice slabs, none are as effective as one recently discovered by Reddit user Sensitive-Break-4657. This fan found that performing a jump slash with an ice weapon near one of the giant waterfalls in Zora's Domain can create dozens of ice blocks in just a few seconds. A gameplay clip shared by the fan demonstrates this technique and showcases the impressive rendering capabilities of the Tears of the Kingdom engine, especially considering the Switch's modest hardware.
This method is highly efficient in terms of resources compared to other methods of creating large amounts of ice in Tears of the Kingdom. It only requires the player to perform a single attack, which will not significantly damage the durability of their weapon. The technique's author suggests combining a Frost Gleeok horn with the player's chosen armament to create an ice-making tool that is highly durable. However, any weapon infused with ice power should work well.
Obtaining a Frost Gleeok horn may be challenging before reaching the endgame, as these dangerous dragons are some of the toughest enemies in all of Hyrule. Players who are determined to try their luck against these creatures can currently find Frost Gleeoks in three locations within Tears of the Kingdom. Like other enemies in the game, the dragons will respawn with every Blood Moon, making it easier to farm them once the player is capable of defeating them.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available on Switch.
