Unleashing the Force: Star Wars Battlefront Overcomes Obstacles for Exciting New Content

Star Wars Battlefront Explores New Frontiers for Exciting Sequel Opportunities

The Star Wars Battlefront franchise has garnered significant popularity, largely due to its enjoyable gameplay and customizable features for Star Wars fans. It provided a less competitive shooter experience, appealing to a wide range of players. However, the franchise faced limitations regarding the content it could adapt for future DLC, despite the apparent potential seen in the unfinished Star Wars: Battlefront 3. While it remains uncertain if this third installment will come to fruition, it would be fascinating to discover how it could have provided fresh content not yet seen in Star Wars Battlefront 2, which heavily drew from the series' nine theatrical movies.

Star Wars Battlefront Shouldn’t Be Leashed to Theatrical Content

Unleashing the Force: Star Wars Battlefront Overcomes Obstacles for Exciting New Content

A threequel for Star Wars Battlefront that expands beyond the nine movies and encompasses more of the Star Wars history would be highly refreshing. While Star Wars fans may have their preferences for certain trilogies, they have shown a more diplomatic and sophisticated approach when discussing animated projects and other Star Wars video games. It would be absolutely amazing to witness Galen Marek's Starkiller from The Force Unleashed wielding dual lightsabers as he races through a Manaan hangar bay, or to see HK-47 leading a charge alongside a battalion of stormtroopers on Bracca. Star Wars Battlefront has successfully integrated characters from different eras and locations, so incorporating crossovers with other Star Wars content should not pose a problem.

It would be fantastic to have Star Wars Jedi content incorporated in a potential Star Wars Battlefront 3. Additionally, it would be exciting to see content from upcoming games like Star Wars Outlaws, including characters such as Kay Vess and Nix, as well as the BX Commando droid ND-5 who accompanies them. This would provide a substantial amount of post-launch content for the game. Moreover, exploring each Star Wars series would be a delightful addition to a future Battlefront game.

The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Bad Batch, Visions, and more could offer a plethora of characters, locations, and weapons that have not been featured prominently in the nine mainline movies. Adapting animated content does raise some concerns about its translation to a photorealistic graphical fidelity. However, it is worth noting that much of this animated content was initially designed with the possibility of being carried over to a more realistic style in mind.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker appeared in live-action before their animated versions in The Clone Wars. And now, in Star Wars Battlefront 2, the actors from The Clone Wars are voicing the characters. Ahsoka Tano is another character who smoothly made the transition from animation to live-action. Considering this, adapting animated material to the art direction of a Star Wars Battlefront 3 should not pose any problems.

The Star Wars universe is full of rich imagery. While the previous Battlefront game focused on the main theater releases, a third installment could selectively draw from the wealth of legacy characters and planets. Instead, it could explore other aspects of the Star Wars IP and decide which characters would bring excitement to the battlefield.
