It's that time of year again when Halloween season is upon us and games are fully embracing the spooky, dark, and eerie vibes. CoD Warzone's annual Haunting Event is in full swing, offering Halloween-themed weapons, features, and benefits. To fit the season, modes and maps have been creatively reworked.
One popular feature making a comeback is the classic Jumpscare interaction. This clever tactic aims to throw players off their game while looting. However, not everyone is a fan of Halloween or CoD: Warzone's flashy and loud jumpscares, finding them annoying during gameplay. Fortunately, unlike in the past, players now have the option to turn off the jumpscare feature. Here's how you can do it.
How to Turn Off Jumpscare in Warzone: The Haunting
To disable the jumpscare feature in The Haunting, Warzone players should go to the Battle Pass menu. Here, they will see a warning message about jumpscares and the option to keep them on or turn them off. To turn off the feature, players can select "No Tricks, Just Treats."
However, it's important to note that this option only applies to the Battle Pass menu and not the main in-game content, like Vondel or Al Mazrah. Even with the feature disabled, jumpscares may still occur. Players should therefore avoid any triggers that could prompt them, such as opening lootable chests on nighttime maps or any of the Vondel and Al Mazrah maps.
Players can easily enable or disable the jumpscares by accessing the Battle Pass tab. To do so, click on the small box located at the top left corner of the screen and toggle the feature according to your preference.
Are Jumpscares Necessary?
Toggle jumpscare feature: on or off.Ever since last year's Haunting event, players have been urging Activision to implement various adjustments, one of which involves the removal of the jumpscare interaction. While the addition of jumpscares in Warzone is undoubtedly entertaining, they have become overly frequent this year and plagued with a few too many technical issues. As they often appear during looting, players have grown accustomed to anticipating their sudden appearance, which ultimately diminishes their novelty. Disabling the jumpscare feature enables players to fully enjoy The Haunting experience without the constant barrage of unnecessary frights.
The solution provides some respite from the overwhelming and attention-grabbing experience of receiving seasonal rewards. It is hoped that Activision is actively developing a system to prevent jumpscares from occurring in all aspects of CoD: Warzone, not just the Battle Pass interface. In the meantime, players can reduce the in-game volume and avoid potential triggers until a permanent solution is implemented.
You can play Call of Duty: Warzone on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
