Unleashing New Powers: Find Hateno Village Research Lab in Zelda

Discover the Hateno Village Research Lab in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and unlock new abilities for the Purah Pad Formerly Purah's base of operations, the lab is now run by eccentric researcher Robbie Follow the quest to uncover its secrets

The Hateno Village Research Lab quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is closely tied to a range of new abilities that can be accessed using the Purah Pad. Previously, in Breath of the Wild, the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab served as Purah's base of operations. However, in Tears of the Kingdom, the lab is still called the same but is now under the leadership of Robbie, the eccentric researcher who used to be based in the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab.

Players frequently visited the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab in Breath of the Wild to upgrade their Sheikah Slate, and it serves a similar purpose in Tears of the Kingdom too. As part of a quest to obtain the Sensor upgrade, which alerts players when they are heading towards a Shrine, Link is directed to the lab. However, even after arriving in Hateno Village, it may not be immediately obvious where the lab is located.

Hateno Village Research Lab Location

The Hateno Village Research Lab is located near Hateno Village and can be easily spotted from afar due to its distinctive Windmill-like structure situated high up to the east. Unlike in Breath of the Wild where players had to light a torch with a unique blue flame and bring it up the hill without it going out, accessing the Tears of the Kingdom Hateno Village Research Lab requires no such task. Link simply needs to make his way up the hill towering over Hateno Village to reach the lab.

How To Get To Hateno Ancient Tech Lab

From Lookout Landing, players can pick up the Sensor quest that leads to the Research Lab in Hateno Village. To get there, head east toward the Lanayru Wetlands and follow the road south toward Necluda. Along the way, make sure to stop at Kakariko Village, nestled in a mountainside and well worth a visit.

Once you've explored Kakariko Village, continue on the road that leads southeast out of the village as it turns southward. After crossing a short bridge, take the east fork in the road (on the left, if heading south) and follow it all the way to Hateno Village. When you arrive, make your way to the east side of town and climb the hill to reach the Hateno Research Lab.

To reach the Research Lab, head to coordinates (3778, -2114, 0250) for a more direct approach. If coming from Mount Lanayru, the quickest way is to launch Link skyward from the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower. With some Stamina boosts or Tulin's sage ability, Link can paraglide down to the top of the hill and reach the Hateno Village Research Lab. Don't forget, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available on the Nintendo Switch.
