A Pokemon fan has created a unique regional form for Octillery, giving it a new color scheme and additional typing.
The regional variant showcases a vividly purple body adorned with intricate blue stripes and swirls, complemented by steel streaks accentuating its head.
Notably, the artist has previously crafted similar regional variations and evolutions for Pokémon such as Smoochum.
An imaginative and talented Pokemon enthusiast has created a fascinating regional form for Octillery and is proudly showcasing their design online. This fan-made version not only introduces a new typing to the beloved Gen 2 Water-type, but also completely revamps its color scheme and includes a few other modifications.
The introduction of regional forms, initially known as regional variants, was a notable addition to the Pokemon series in its seventh generation with the debut of Alolan forms in Pokemon Sun and Moon. These unique forms adapt to their specific environment, resulting in distinct differences in appearances, typings, moves, abilities, base stats, and more compared to their counterparts found in other parts of the world. Currently, there are 57 diverse regional forms spanning across 54 Pokemon species, although none possess the typing found in this fan-created regional form of Octillery.
The Reddit user EliDwebster has created a unique piece of Pokemon fan art, which they shared on one of the popular Pokemon forums on the site. While mostly retaining the original structure of the Pokemon's body, the artist has given the regional form of Octillery a vibrant makeover. The red skin has been replaced with a striking purple color, adorned with stripes and swirls of light blue. This regional form of Octillery is a Water/Steel dual-type, and its head exhibits steel streaks and a worn brim at the back.
Additionally, the regional form showcases head spikes and slightly longer tentacles compared to its standard counterpart. The image also hints at a new Hidden Ability named Soldier's Creed, although the reasoning behind this ability or the origins of the regional form remain undisclosed in the caption. It is worth noting that this Pokemon fan has previously created designs for a regional form and a new evolution of Smoochum. The Smoochum and its evolution feature a more subdued earth tone color palette, in contrast to the bold colors of Octillery's regional form.
In addition to the regional form, another Pokemon fan has created a unique Paradox form for Octillery. Inspired by the futuristic designs of Pokemon Violet, this form, known as Iron Turret, is a Fire/Water type. It successfully enhances Octillery's tank-like appearance, with a more pronounced turret-shaped mouth and a military helmet-style head. Although it differs from the previous Octillery design in many aspects, both versions interestingly emphasize the bumps on its head, turning them into spikes.
Similar to the explanations provided for Smoochum and the new Chimecho evolution, the artist shares in-depth details about the design choices of their Pokemon. Fans of the Pokemon franchise eagerly await the release of the accompanying explanation for this creation.
