Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC introduces Poltchageist, a Grass and Ghost-type Pokemon inspired by Japanese matcha tea.

The Gen 9 titles introduce an exciting twist to regional variants by showcasing brand new and distinctive species that possess qualities similar to pre-existing Pokemon.

In the highly-anticipated upcoming DLC, Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, players can expect a plethora of additional Paradox Pokemon as well as completely new species. This delightful blend of classic favorites and novel additions promises a thrilling gaming experience.

Fans of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have already been introduced to several Pokemon that will be included in the games' DLC. However, a new live-action trailer has now revealed a new Pokemon called Poltchageist. While it may not be a regional variant, this new creature appears to be connected to a Pokemon that many fans of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are already familiar with.

Regional variants are not a new concept in the Pokemon games, but the Gen 9 titles have added a unique twist by introducing entirely new Pokemon. These new Pokemon share similarities with certain existing Pokemon but are considered to be separate and distinct species. One popular example is Wiglett, which has many similarities to Diglett in terms of its design, behavior, and name. However, Wiglett is recognized as its own species rather than a regional variant of Diglett. Regional variant Pokemon were first introduced in Pokemon Sun and Moon. They offer new forms for existing Pokemon that are exclusive to specific regions in the Pokemon world. While they may differ in terms of type and appearance, they are still considered to be the same species as the regular variants.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have introduced numerous new regional variations and convergent Pokemon. The upcoming Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC has already revealed even more. The Pokemon Company recently shared a live-action trailer showcasing another new Pokemon from the land of Kitakami. This Pokemon, called Poltchageist, will be discoverable and befriended in the Teal Mask DLC, set to release in mid-September. Unlike its relative, Polteageist, Poltchageist is a Grass and Ghost-type Pokemon with a design inspired by Japanese matcha tea.

The trailer provides a backstory for this new Pokemon, unveiling lore consistent with other stories about Ghost-type Pokemon. Interestingly, this isn't the first time a Galarian Pokemon has received a convergent relative in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC. An earlier trailer unveiled Dipplin, an evolution of Applin.

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, older fan-favorite Pokemon are given a tribute as the game introduces the enigmatic Paradox Pokemon. These Paradox Pokemon add new forms to familiar Pokemon that fans are already familiar with. Excitingly, the upcoming Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC will bring even more new Paradox Pokemon and entirely new species for fans to enjoy. This DLC will be released in two parts later this year. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet can be played on the Nintendo Switch platform.
