Today, the livestream for Capcom's TGS 2023 Online Program began by unveiling exciting updates about Dragon's Dogma 2, the long-awaited follow-up to the beloved 2012 RPG.
During this segment, viewers were treated to fresh information about various character classes, enchanting world locations, thrilling quests, and much more.
Players will commence their Dragon's Dogma 2 adventure by selecting one of four classes. These classes, each equipped with their distinct combat mechanics and abilities, provide players with a diverse range of playstyles. The available starting classes are:
1. Fighter - This class specializes in close-quarters combat, utilizing a powerful combination of a one-handed sword and a shield to deliver devastating melee damage.
Archer, which focuses on long-range attacks using a third-person-shooter aiming system
Mage, which casts spells using incantations, with more powerful spells requiring longer incantations
The Thief class specializes in clinging onto monsters and utilizing swift dagger attacks.
The presentation also showcased the universe of Dragon's Dogma 2, unveiling the kingdom of Vermund and the canyon nation of Batthal. Inhabitants of each city and its surroundings offer quests to the player, either by calling out from afar or through chance encounters within the game world.
The segment also introduced two new classes that combine magic abilities with non-magic attacks. The Mystic Spearhead wields a dual-headed spear enhanced with magic, while the Magick Archer harnesses the power to shoot magic-infused arrows from a distance.
In Dragon's Dogma 2, a day/night cycle will be featured, bringing forth formidable creatures that specifically emerge during the night. Players who find themselves in the wilderness after dark can set up a campfire to restore health, interact with companions, and much more.
Oxcarts now make their presence known in towns, offering a convenient means of transportation between them. Players have the option to either embark on a real-time journey or opt for fast travel, although even in either case, there is a chance of encountering enemy attacks. Dragon's Dogma 2 is set to release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with no specific launch window disclosed at this time.
