In the Zelda series, Gleeoks have been a longstanding boss since the original Legend of Zelda game in 1986. Initially, they were depicted as pixelated images of a green dragon with three heads. However, in the latest installment, Tears of the Kingdom in 2023, Gleeoks have transformed into massive creatures that strike fear in the hearts of players from afar.
As players embark on their journey and defeat numerous Gleeoks, the once-terrifying creatures gradually lose their impact. As a result, some players seek unconventional and amusing methods to vanquish these dragons. One extraordinary example was showcased by ThornyFox, a player in the Tears of the Kingdom subreddit. While exploring the South Akkala Plains, ThornyFox encountered a Thunder Gleeok they had already defeated previously. Utilizing Link's bow, they targeted each head of the Gleeok, depleting its health by shooting its eyes and causing the beast to collapse. Instead of delivering a melee attack as expected, ThornyFox employed an unconventional approach. They cleverly used Link's Ultrahand ability to slide a large plank of wood beneath the fallen creature, akin to a spatula. The subsequent events showcased an irreverent treatment of Gleeoks.
ThronyFox continued to maneuver one of Tears of the Kingdom's colossal dragons until they discovered a suitable gloom hole to deposit it into. However, their intentions went beyond mere relocation. ThornyFox was determined to ensure the demise of Thunder Gleeok. Inside the hole, they pursued the creature, only to witness its disappearance mere seconds after the descent. Through deft editing, the story transitioned back to the battleground, where Gleeok awaited, health fully restored, ready to resume the battle.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom empowers players with the ability to conquer enemies, solve puzzles, and overcome obstacles in their own unique ways. This freedom has led to awe-inspiring moments, such as the construction of intricate death contraptions to defeat Lynels or ThornyFox effortlessly disposing of a formidable boss like a burnt pancake.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for Nintendo Switch.
