Artistically talented Pokemon fan gains online attention for their impressive concept art of a Paradox form of Lugia, drawing inspiration from unlikely sources.
Lugia, a Legendary Pokemon with a dual Psychic/Flying type, is recognized as the Diving Pokemon and holds dominion over the legendary birds. The recent revamp of Lugia's design greatly amplifies its strength and imposing presence.
Entitled "Forgotten Abyss," this fan-made artwork showcases Lugia with an eerie, partially transparent skin, rugged fins, and a head encased in ice, instilling a sense of dread and garnering admiration from fellow Pokemon enthusiasts. Other creations by fans span the spectrum, ranging from lifelike representations to handcrafted plush toys.
An exceptionally talented and imaginative Pokemon enthusiast is quickly gaining online recognition for their remarkable concept art of a Paradox form for the iconic legendary Pokemon, Lugia. This fan-created artwork draws inspiration from unlikely sources, resulting in a formidable creature that has captivated the hearts of numerous Pokemon fans.
Originally introduced in the second generation of Pokemon, Lugia is a Legendary Pokemon with a dual Psychic/Flying typing, despite its close association with the sea and its title as the Diving Pokemon. Lugia forms one half of the Tower duo alongside Ho-Oh from the Johto region, and serves as the master of the legendary birds - Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. However, this particular rendition of Lugia appears to possess the ability to command even more powerful beings.
The stunning artwork in question is by a Reddit user known as feveretro, who shared their creation on one of the popular Pokemon forums. Named Forgotten Abyss, the Paradox form of Lugia maintains a similar body structure, but with eerie enhancements. The creature boasts a dark, see-through skin with a jagged fin running along its back, revealing an icy skeleton beneath. Lugia's wing-like appendages have become more pronounced and jagged, while its head is covered in ice and features aggressive, sharp angles. feveretro has given the Pokemon glowing orange eyes and a tail of black fire, resulting in a truly formidable creation.
Many other Pokemon enthusiasts have shown their appreciation for the artwork, as evidenced by nearly 500 upvotes on the post and a comment section filled with praise. The artist shared that they drew inspiration from black icebergs, arrowheads, and creatures like the toothy plesiosaur known as Elasmosaurus. This is not the first time a Pokemon fan has imagined an ancient variation of Lugia, as another fan recently gained attention for their own interpretation of the ancient Paradox form, also inspired by plesiosaurs.
The artist's creation, known as "Forgotten Abyss, the time-lost ancient horror," successfully instills fear in people due to its intimidating design, as evidenced by the comments on the post. However, there is another realistic version of Lugia created by a Pokemon fan that is equally terrifying, capturing a more detailed and textured depiction of the Pokemon emerging from the ocean on a stormy day. Although this fan art is closer to the original design of Lugia compared to the previous creation, it still exudes a menacing vibe.
In contrast to the fear-inducing depictions, other Pokemon fans have produced artworks that lean towards the opposite spectrum. For example, a fan recently crafted a massive plush toy of Lugia through crochet, showcasing the diverse range of fan art that Pokemon enthusiasts can create.
