Genshin Impact players are calling for significant buffs and customization options for the Traveler character, who has spent years exploring Teyvat as the protagonist. Each region the Traveler visits in the game grants them new powers, but players feel that the character's full combat potential has yet to be realized by the developers.
In Genshin Impact, the enigmatic protagonist finds themselves separated from their twin sibling and wakes up in the Mondstadt region of Teyvat. Although players are able to give the protagonist a name at the start of the game, the majority of characters in the game simply refer to them as the Traveler. After meeting Paimon while fishing for their next meal, the two characters quickly become friends. The beloved duo then embarks on a journey to Mondstadt's main town in search of clues about the Traveler's missing sibling, leading them to explore various regions such as Liyue and Sumeru. Along the way, the Traveler's eventful journey attracts the attention of two antagonistic groups, the Fatui and Abyss Order, who have connections to the protagonist's sibling.
Genshin Impact players are requesting buffs for the Traveler and additional customization options. The official lore suggests that the protagonist becomes stronger with each element gained, yet the Traveler's base stats and customization features have remained unchanged since the game's release. Moreover, players have to visit a Statue of the Seven to switch the Traveler's element, as there is no option to do so in the pause menu. Reddit user Minette21 suggests that the Traveler should be able to use multiple elements in gameplay, given the implications in the main story cutscenes.
While characters Lisa and Ayaka have received new costumes this year, the Traveler has not. Minette21 and other players are eager for hair and attire customization options for the Traveler, as this would allow them to personalize the main character according to their preferences. Another Reddit user, NS401, proposes that the development team introduces new Traveler outfits corresponding to each explored region in the game, an idea that has garnered support. However, some players speculate that the Traveler may not receive buffs or outfits, as the development team appears to be focused on creating completely new characters.
Enhancing the Traveler's buffs and customization options could potentially boost their usage among Genshin Impact players during events and end-game activities, such as the weekly Spiral Abyss domain. Additionally, implementing an element-switching feature in the pause menu would be advantageous as it would eliminate the need for players to frequently return to distant Statues of the Seven.
In version 4.0 of Genshin Impact, the vast world of Teyvat will be further expanded as players embark on their first journey to Fontaine. Along the way, players will encounter new characters and Fatui Harbingers as part of the main storyline. To uncover more exciting details, it is anticipated that HoYoverse will soon host a special program.
Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
